While we were told that the first two chapters of the live action prequel to Alan Wake, "Bright Falls," were set to go live today for Gold members of Xbox LIVE I've been trying to watch them for most of the morning and as of this writing haven't seen them pop up anywhere. Maybe I'm just dumb and missing it entirely, but luckily I have the above trailer to tide me over... until I go to the New York Times website and watch the two episodes there.
Despite Remedy and Microsoft not announcing it, the Times posted both of the first episodes of "Bright Falls" up on Friday. Considering Live doesn't seem to have its act together I don't see any reason why we shouldn't just all watch them there. I'm going to dive in now, and hope that the films are up to Ubisoft's live action efforts.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
They don't, but they did make the Assassin's Creed videos, which is what I was referring too. The word previous probably was a bit confusing, I'll take it out.
As to your second point if you read the previous post I linked to on this the 4/27 is for the shows posting on the web, but Gold members were supposed to get it today on Live.
Oh, the first reference to Ubisoft.
Yea, that was a typo. Fixed and thanks!

I must say that the pacing was absolutely spot on, with the exact right amount of suspense and shocks.
I hope to god the game follows this trend, but I fear Roger Ebert may be right in the case of this kind of story. It needs to be in movie format, its a lot better when you aren't controlling the character.
That makes it sound like Ubisoft had something to announce regarding either Alan Wake or Bright Falls. I'm not trying to be rude, the wording just doesn't make sense, that's all.
Anyway, I watched the two shorts, and they are surprisingly well done. They do, however, very closely resemble Twin Peaks; even some of the characters look the same. In the first video, the lady at 2:51 looks just like Sarah Palmer, and at 2:57 the younger guy on the left closely resembles Leo Johnson. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on these shorts as well as the game when it eventually releases.
it feels very stephen king-ish and i think the actual game will deal with deerfest, maybe a deer cult or something.
The scary lady with the coffee looked like a mix between Log Lady and Sarah Palmer and the waitress is like a younger version of Norma.
Still, it's pretty well done. The Lynchian feel shone through in the second short.
Why can't they make it into a TV show?
Because someone already made Twin Peaks.

I want to like Alan Wake....but these movies did NOT help.
I only pray these aren't indicative of the game quality. It was like something some high school kid shot. Badly written, badly paced and a failed attempt at creepy.
It tried. It tried real hard. But it was bad.
I was looking (cautiously) forward and planning to buy Alan Wake. Now I'm renting for sure, because these movies make me feel like they don't know what they're doing.
