Since even being a majority console gamer.
Alan wake always felt like a perfect fit for PC.
Very, very impressive.
That's quite a slap to the face of developers who use "piracy" as a reason not to make a PC version of certain games.
Gaming PC+360 controller= Xbox720
I'm not saying piracy is a non-issue, I'm saying that even with piracy you can sell well on PC, especially if it is a "god damned good game" like you said it is (I wouldn't know, haven't played it).
I don't think that it's quite like that, maybe more of a "damn we can make twice as much money if we are on twice as many platforms" kind of thing. Hopefully Remedy goes the Insomniac route and goes multiplatform
*Shrug* Maybe one day.
what the fuck were you smokin? Alan Wake sales on 360 exceeded 1.8mln. with nearly 700k just on Xbox Live which encouraged Remedy to create downloadable Alan Wake game.
That whole "best played on couch" statement was laughable then and hilarious now.
But.. I love Alan Wake so.. I want them all to be unique and I wanted about 2 more games yesterday! lol.

so over 1mln at retail(including 500k in US) and 900k from Xbox Live.
"Digital sales matter because a downloadable code for the game was included in a holiday console bundle last year, packaged with a disc copy of Forza Motorsport 3. This year sees a similar bundle on store shelves, which includes a digital code for Halo: Reach and a disc-based version Fable III. However, NPD data has been counting digital sales for Halo Reach, something it hasn't been doing for Alan Wake."
You also read the article wrong.
"According to a story posted by IndustryGamers, Remedy's 2010 Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake sold much better than originally thought. While NPD sales figures currently peg the game at 330K units sold in the US to date (with the number closer to 500K worldwide), those numbers apparently do not factor in digital download sales."
500k sold world wide, US was 330k units.
From the source:
"330K [retail] units sold in the US to date (with the number closer to 500K worldwide)"
That's a TOTAL of 500K retail units sold worldwide, a number which includes the 330K from the US. That's a far cry from "1mln at retail(including 500k in US)" as you just claimed.
Including the 900K digital copies, that puts the total somewhere near 1.5mil (so you were only about 300K off).
Reading is fun!
Mr Dixon, aren't you like, working for Destructoid? this probably would give you knowledge about the fact that NPD only lists 10 top selling games each month and if game is not in the Top10 its sales for that month equal automatically 0=ZERO for NPD(let's forget about the fact that NPD DOES NOT gather non-US sales data so numbers posted by IndustryGamers was taken completely out of their ass). VGChartz - the only reliable source for sales data, lists Alan Wake retail release as million seller.
