It's taken over six years, a canceled version and a petition, but Alan Wake is finally coming to PC this February. And some people though the wait for the Xbox 360 version was a long one. Remedy revealed its month of release along with other information in an FAQ on their forums. It's going to be released on Steam and will be a Steamworks title, it won't be using dreaded Games for Windows Live.
The FAQ also lists the minimum and recommended specs, it's a pretty broad range. The Signal and The Writer DLC will be included with the game, but unfortunately there won't be a demo. I held out for a PC version until last year when I broke and picked up the 360 version. It was pretty damn good, certainly the most fun I've had with a torch. Hopefully those of you who have been waiting all this time will think it's been worth it.

Piracy is a problem, but if it means killing pc games so those childeren who love steam so much will stop whining on my game sites, I can get on board.
And why wouldn't he prefer a PC version? Because he wants to pay more money for an inferior version of the game?

What are you talking about? The reason it didn't come out on PC was because Microsoft wanted a big exclusive for the 360 during that time period and paid lots of money for that right. The contract probably just expired thus the extra revenue of that promised PC release. At no point did Remedy nor Microsoft even mention piracy, so why are you bringing it up now?

It's been two years and a huecuva lot of broken promises. If you try to foist off a full-price purchase on us, prepare to feel the intense apathy of Steam gamers who know a sale is coming down the road.
Go on, red, DO TELL how PC games aren't better in any way shape or form over their console counterparts. I needed to hear a cool story today bro.
Shooters: The only good console shooter is MAG... the PC has: TF2, ArmA, STALKER, etc.
RPG's: Consoles have Dark Souls and Demon's Souls. That's it... and Dark Souls may be coming to the PC. The PC version of Mass Effect and Dragon Age are better. The PC has The Witcher, MMO's, etc.
The only good console exclusives are: Metal Gear (Is MGS:R still coming to the PC?), Valkyria Chronicles, Okami, and... um.... is there anything else that hasn't already been covered?
Anyways, Alan Wake is easily one for my favorite games of all time. I hope it will be successful on the PC.
I get that PC gaming isn't for everyone, and I'm cool with that, but at this point all the ports have gamepad support but with better graphics/framerates, lower price point and free online play. Railing against that as something for stupid people doesn't make much sense because beyond missing out on some exclusives, once your in game you're essentially having an enhanced console experience (if using a gamepad).
Of course if you aren't technically minded PC gaming can be more trouble than it's worth, especially if you're very busy and just want things to run 100% of the time (although there are plenty of stories of hard locks and dead consoles out there too), but stupid/childish as a preference? No.
As a general rule, Ill play a game on whichever system it was designed for. I hate 90% of ports, regardless of what system theyre on.

I dont mind waiting for the PC version if its worth it, but 1-2 years with no word from the devs is taking the piss.
The only thing the 360 has going for it is shmups and xbla exclusives, thats why I bought a 360 instead of a PS3.

As for Alan Wake, I'm glad it's finally coming to PC. I don't game on the PC much, but this may be reason to get my mouse, & keyboard fingers loosened up.
Just shows, wait long enough & most things come to the PS3 & PC eventually.
I only wish I could own Shadow Complex. That's the single game I care about on the 360.
Lol did you just say TF2 was good? Mediocre at best, TFC is a far better game.
