Alan Wake DLC, 'The Signal,' hits on July 27 photo

It hasn't even hit shelves yet, but maybe you don't think the six episodes on the Alan Wake disc are enough. No worries, as the first add-on episode has been dated for a late-July release.

On the game's official Facebook page it was revealed that the first bit of downloadable content, called "The Signal," will be available for download on July 27. The content will be free to anyone who purchases the game new, with Microsoft and Remedy urging gamers to "hold on to your token card" that's found inside each copy of the game.

For more on Alan Wake, check out Jim's review. He kind of liked it.

Late June got me excited. Then I read 27 July ;(

The Signal makes me think of that awful movie that tried to do Stephen King's Cell novel. Hmmmmmm.

Oh man, DLC release dates before the games even hit. We've got a new low point in gaming.

Need to borrow friends Xbox for this...

on another note, did anyone here ever actually watch a psychological horror/gore film called "The Signal"? I usually detest horror/gore movies but that one was rather good. Had a psychological edge to it, much the same as I would imagine Alan Wake to have.

"Oh man, DLC release dates before the games even hit. We've got a new low point in gaming."

I completely agree! What's that? The game is longer than the majority of earlier titles in the genre? What's that? The presentation and setting are among the best in the genre? What's that? The first DLC is free? What's that? Planning and executing DLC requires months worth of work, and if they're released outside of the launch window, they rarely sell enough to justify their existence? What's that? Fans on this type of game do in fact want additional content?

Oh, I guess I don't agree at all.

Oh and the game is out in Europe by the way...

Professor Pew: thank god someone else thinks that movie was awful.

People I know really liked it, but I thought it was genuinely one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of bad movies.
