It's been a little over six years since developer Remedy has visited the world of Max Payne, and it doesn't have plans to revisit it anytime soon.
Speaking to VG247, the developer (who is currently putting the finishing touches on Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake) since it sold the IP to Rockstar, don't expect any Remedy-developed Payne titles anytime soon.
"I haven't seen it," said Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen. "I mean, I've seen screenshots [of Max Payne 3], and you know what? Rockstar don't make bad games."
Max Payne 3, which is schedule for release sometime later this year, features a grittier, dirtier Payne. According to Hakkinen, he's confident Rockstar will take "their own interpretation of Max Payne" and "it'll be awesome, because it's going to be Rockstar."
Alan Wake is scheduled for a May 18 release, and will feature cleaner characters and 100% more flashlight than any Max Payne title we've played to date.

lets hope rockstar won't ruin the franchise.
Anyone remember State of Emergency?
Because I personally dislike almost everything Rockstar has produced. Don't know why, their games just never grab me.
Max Payne 3 is not Max Payne, fuck that game.
State of emergency was developed by Vis entertainment, Rockstar had no involvement with the development. I remember lots of game shops trying to rack up preorders on State of Emergency due to how well GTA3 did and the obvious R* logo this new "State of Emergency" box art had slapped on the front of it coupled with the fact that it was an ultra violent game.
At the time, I'm guessing Rockstar north was working on Vice City. Just a guess though.
