Plenty of people were excited for it on the Xbox side too....it just so happens a good majority of them pirated the game as it was one of 360's most pirated of that year. It's a shame too cause it's a fantastic game..
You see, I want to agree with you, but you also have to think that maybe if we embrace them as the prodigal son rather than that dirty hobo who continues to peek through you living room window we might continue to get some awesomeness from them into the future.
Maybe it would be nice fit for the Wii U because I don't see the Wii pulling off the amazing lighting effects. That would seriously ruin the atmosphere.
So wait... a game that was originally going to be on PC went exclusively to Xbox when it released. Now that they have come out and said that there will be a PC version, you are just going to skip it? Just because of that? If they ignored PC players, this wouldn't be coming to PC at all. Sometimes, gamers hurt my head.
However, the atmosphere was great; the woods were genuinely scary looking, the lighting effects were fantastic and the story; quite simplistic in itself, was very neatly presented with some good writing.
You simply CANNOT believe ANYTHING these jerk-offs say. EVER.
Yeah, I'd label releasing a game that started out on PC two years later as ignoring PC gamers. This isn't about them caring about the market, it's them attempting to scrape every bit of profit they can out of the property because the initial earnings as an Xbox exclusive were disappointing. Had it sold really well, this wouldn't be happening. That being said, I'll probably buy this at some point (unless it's GFWL) but not for more than $10.
If it's even close to new release price then they can go to hell.
"Plenty of people were excited for it on the Xbox side too....it just so happens a good majority of them pirated the game as it was one of 360's most pirated of that year."
How much you wanna bet all those pirates were angry, would-be PC customers? :)
I don't know, I think you'll lose more than them, privating you from playing the game you were waiting.
To me, it's like all the gamers who only plays on PC and say "I will never buy anything more from Ubisoft 'cause the broken shitty DRM" but then, you don't play games like Assassin's Creed who really worth the trouble (I'm not saying the Ubisoft DRM is good)
In fact, not buying games like this, ends in the developers porting even more less games from consoles to PC.
could be! Just having the knowledge that Alan Wake was up there with Black Ops and Halo: Reach for most pirated makes me sad that that's probably partly why we're getting an XBLA title vs. A full retail release. I hope American Nightmares will be as good as the first game but I really do wish we were getting a physical game.
Yes, I just saw Remedy on the International List of Game Companies Not Trusted By PC Gamers (or ILGCNTBPCG for short), and you're right! They are right up there at number 3 just under, EA and Ubisoft!
It was fucked up. A lot of people were exited about Alan Wake. It wasn't just announced that it would be PC, it was SHOWN OFF on PC. People were pissed off, and they had good reason. Now we have people who place "lol" at the end of their sentences who don't think that bothered anyone. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass if you don't care about that (lol). I can only speak for myself, and I simply have zero faith, loyalty, or trust in those guys, and not much in the way of respect, either.
There are TONS of other great games out there. I won't cry if I never get to play Alan Wake. I'm not "boycotting" it, I just intend to wait until it drops below $10, because I have very little interest in supporting Remedy. Of course, it might very well end up on GFWL, and which case I won't bother at all.
Not buying a game like Assassin's Creed because of DRM is completely legit. Gamers miss out on great games all the time, simply because there are other great games that grab their attention. I personally don't play any Ubisoft, EA, or Activision games on my PC (or even my PS3 for that matter) and I don't feel I'm missing a thing! So what if they decide to discontinue PC ports? Other companies will notice the gap and take advantage of it. PC gaming is not going to disappear.
Not purchasing a game because it took a year to come to the PC is pretty ridiculous, but if that is why you decide not to spend your money, so be it. There are dozens of reasons to not purchase a game that don't even have to be have to be gaming related. We all make decisions with what to do with our money on a daily basis.
(note: I'm not even part of these groups. I bought Alan wake for $10 on 360. I'm just part of the 3drealms/remedy community)
