Akuma is looking pretty in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix photo

Capcom's Brian Dunn is a nice guy, but he sure is a rotten tease. In the official Capcom blog, he recently posted some sprites of the redrawn Akuma, from the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network title, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. The verdict? Well, see for yourself, but don't get any drool on your shirt -- that's embarrassing.

Brian is quick to point out that these are actual frames of animation from the game, only that when we finally play (takes a deep breath) Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, it's going to be animated. My puny human brain can't even comprehend how awesome that's going to be.

More images can be found over at the blog, where Dunn hints at teasing us with more characters in the future. Jerk.

There is no game I sort of want, but not really, more than Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

Just like the comis, the art is really great in some ways, but really crappy in others. I agree with AgentMoo 100% on the comparison to that South Park episode.

Any new Street Fighter is better than none, but I still prefer the look of SF3 and SFA over this.

Things like MIB2 references are the reason I read this site.

no, seriously. I want a new SF as much as this soadsam guy, haha. I have a feeling me and him would appreciate a new SF in the series.

The chances of a brand-new SF happening are slim to none. The dept responsible for all of the SF goodness in Capcom Japan has dissolved, and (I believe) Capcom USA owns the rights now. Something wacky like that.

Meaning that, if a new SF were to come out, it'd be made by a bunch of American developers who'd never worked on a decent 2D fighter before. Which means it would be awful and broken and possibly more of a bruise in the SF legacy than the EX series.

Play 3rd Strike if you want some good SF action. That game blows Champion Dash and Turbo and all of the Alphas out of the water. Play SvC if you want some team fun. Learn Guilty Gear if you want to kill yourself learning a good, deep 2D fighter.

In a series littered with absolutely stupid fucking names, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has to be the absolute worst one yet.
