On the last episode of the There Will Be Brawl, the Princess was kidnapped, Mario got his ass kicked and Luigi has taken it upon himself to fix up things in the Mushroom Kingdom. The former heroes of Nintendo’s Kingdoms have fallen by the way side, so Luigi has to turn to Wario and other shady characters to help him find Princess Peach.
More of Nintendo's characters make an appearance in episode three, such as Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Mr. Game & Watch and plenty more. There’s also a very special appearance by Becky “Aktrez” Young who shows us what Samus Aran likes to do when she isn't hunting Space Pirates.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

I know that it's a very Sin City-esque take on classic NES characters. I know it's not serious and I know it's not really a sequel to any of the classic games.
That being said, Samus going from space hero to stripper/whore just doesn't sit right with me for some reason. Mario popping pills, yeah. Luigi a detective, sure. Captain Falcon gay, okay. Samus a stripper? Nope, can't get on that wagon.
@Kyousuke Nanbu: Sex sells. Like it or hate it, that's the reality of it. Besides, she was in a bathing suit at the end of the first damn game. How you think she's been changed is confusing.
Poor Red. I'd probably be frozen in fear if I was being dancemolested by Ike and Marth too though.
Still, this being the first episode I've seen, I've gotta say this is a rather amazing little series. The acting is astounding, how did they manage to compile such talent for a web-based miniseries?
Wow... I get a txt telling me I"m on the front of Dtoid and I wasn't expecting it to just be my tits.
Just to let you know, Samus is a stripper because if you watch the Nintendo Brawl trailers it shows her suit LITERALLY falling off her body so, it was a fun part to latch on to. Remember, this is based on BRAWL.
Anyhow, glad you all are enjoying it. It's a freakin' AWESOME series and I'm really happy to be a part of it. xoxox
The stripper scene wasn't terrible, it was just contrived. You know from the beginning that she's not going to take anything off, so why is the scene so long? It was like a poor remake of the scene from Dogma where they search for the Muse.
This one didn't seem as good as some of the other eps, not sure why.
I will say that this series is awesome all the way around. It shows that even though they are not trying to be some big budget thing, each and every person are putting so much effort and it makes this thing shine that much more. I hardly care for stripper scenes, and I agree that part may have been a few seconds too long, but Samus' personality throughout the whole thing makes it work for me. She's not trying to be the stripper that's making this money for some school, she knows what and why she's doing it.
Plus, for me I've always been a bigger fan of Luigi than of Mario. Seeing him not only be the calm, cool person in the series and doing what he has to do, but to also see hints that he's hit all the hot females in the cast thus far... Luigi be the pimp fo sho!
But, in all seriousness... this shit is awesome. Much effort making this web series shine. Can't wait for the next episode.
It's entertaining for the novelty factor, but beyond that... meh. As much as a sexualized Samus plays to some of my lonely nerd fantasies, it kind of disgusts me to see the character portrayed that way, regardless of the reasons behind it. (If they'd really wanted it to be a parody of her Brawl portrayal, they would've given her a full set of armor to take off and kept the tits concealed. As it is, this was clearly just for tits and giggles.) It's the epitome of "two steps forward, four steps back." *facepalm*
Since there's some talk aboot it, I'll throw my take in: Don't explicitly see WHY she'd be doing that, aside from connections, since I'm sure she could find something else between bounty downtimes, and the first lines came out weird, but her voice became more tempered toward what I'd imagine her to sound (well, we do have Jessica Hale, but has she ever really said anything as Samus?), even if the voice itself doesn't quite fit. And I agree, pale skin is rather nice.
OH SHANP! Was that Ana she was dancin' with? The credits didn't say as much, but what I could make out of the hair gave the vibe (why, if so, the ruffle, then?)
Before people bitch at me cos ima hatin the bewbs or whatever.
It's the WHOLE thing I did not enjoy, not just the pointless attempt of a sexy scene. No offence to anyone in the show, I just thought it was fucking terrible all over.
I never liked that outfit on Samus. I especially hated it when trying to avoid Space Pirates in Zero Mission. Full tank of energy per hit my ass. I miss when Samus was the one video game heroine who wasn't famous for her body, but for the fact that most people thought she was a guy and loved the game anyway.
Also I seem to have missed the second episode. Plot is ok though.
I enjoyed that. And the rest of the series so far. Silly and entertaining, with surprisingly high production values. Also, Captain Falcon was awesome. Although the effeminate Pitt was slightly creepy.
Loved it. Sure, it's a low budget show but it's got a lot of funny bits. I thought the gay mushroom bar was hilarious! And Samus as a stripper was great (good job Aktrez). I feel kinda sorry for the guys playing Luigi and Mario though. They've obviously no idea how to put on the correct accents.
Kinda adds to its amateur appeal though. Pokemon Trainer and Falcon were both great too, btw.
Just saw the vid. Seems like a pretty interesting show I'm probably going to be watching the rest of as I'm able.
One thing that bothers me though, is how the 'stripping' scene drags pointlessly without anything happening, and I had a thought run through my head. (Clearly I don't really expect it to happen, although I think it would be entertaining to discuss the idea.)
What would you guys think if that scene were re-filmed, with a legitimate stripping scene (done in fairly modest underwear of course, I wouldn't expect anything that would raise the rating above a mild pg 13) to spend that time on something a little more visually interesting than her just running her hands over the zero-suit?
The actress sure is pretty enough for it, that's for sure ^^

I lolled at that.
I hate to see what his falcon punch is.
