Here's a two part interview with Silent Hill composer, Akira Yamaoka, talking about the upcoming titles Silent Hill 5 and Silent Hill Origins, as well as his work on the series as a whole. The videos are very interesting to huge fans of Silent Hill such as myself, especially the word that Yamaoka will actually be consulting for the development of SH5.

The soundtrack for the Silent Hill series is practically my favorite of any game, especially Silent Hill 2, so I found this incredibly enjoyable. Good to know we share the same favorite of the series, too. Check out part two after the jump.

I hope Joe Romersa is coming back, I love Hometown and Cradle of Forest.

Is it just me or does Shane Bettenhausen seem so socially uncomfortable in both these videos?

Also, Shane is my least favorite part.

The score was also the best part of the film adaptation. I'd let someone else add the obvious "it was the ONLY good part" joke, but I just did. Too slow suckers!

@ volz0r, i agree and it was sort of distracting. Though it also seemed like they cut out the intepreter doing his/her thing (i may be wrong) so maybe Shane was just staring away while yamaoka answered?

i'm super excited at the things akira is possibly working on for the wii and ds. and i was never worried that SH5 was going to be handled well, now knowing that he'll be an advisor is just more assurance.

i love how the interviewer is nodding his head as if he understands what hes saying.

it gets too over the top when the interviewer nods his head before yamaoka even starts a sentence like the interviewer has turet's.

I'm seriously hoping SH5 will be a return to form for the series. It feels like it's been on a backslide since SH2.

I'm glad Yamaoka is sticking with the Silent Hill franchise. Even his work outside of videogaming is nothing short of amazing

Why did they put that post in the background? ;_;

And the music for the movie sucks, because none of it was original, it was all taken directly from the games.

@volz0r and Dale North. Agreed, just a general lack of enthusiasm but maybe he was just too excited for facial expressions. Kind of like that guy who played Spider-man.

I wonder if his brief commentary on working with this new audio format will enhance the game's sound effects.
