M-Extra has tipped the Dtoid on a "strong game music/chiptune scene in Portland, Oregon - Air Fortress (based on the classic Nintendo game) here has completed the track "Wii will rock you", which I can't seem to get out of my head. The chiptune sound is an aquired taste but I can't imagine anyone growing up in the 8-bit era and now smiling at these sounds!" Air Fortress is a strong believer in being un-hip, so cut off that mop top and burn your white belt! Air Fortress is real, and a force to be reckoned with. Don't be afraid to be ... unconventional. Though we are all from the same stardust, conformity is the supression of your effectual purpose on this planet. Release your inner geek and rock out to the analog algarhythmic soundz!

Band aside, does anyone remember Air Fortress, the game? It was given to me unexpectedly by an uncle for christmas, and my most vivid recollection of owning it was trying to return it to Toys R' Us some months later to no avail. It wasn't an awful game, but it wasn't every good either. The shooter/adventure game modes and quasi gravity simulation kept the game interesting, but the uninspired character design and anti-climatic stages couldn't really compete with ealier games that offered the same - Blaster Master and Life Force already did what this game was trying to do, but better IMHO. But perhaps I'm in the minority - do we have any Air Fortress aficionados out there?
