Ain't no party like a SpyParty

9:00 PM on 05.14.2014

In 2010, Anthony Burch explained why SpyParty, though "two years away from release," was pretty rad. Four years later and a lot of that prototype art is still in SpyParty's first trailer, though it also shows one of the final character models, which looks lovely. You can see more of the super pretty, animated character models here and an overhauled environment here. The final art is still being integrated into the game.

Yes, SpyParty continues to be a long time coming, but it's such an awesome idea. As the trailer explains. the Spy's goal is to blend in with the party AI while accomplishing various, nefarious tasks. Conversely, the Sniper player has to watch the party from afar and figure out which attendee is the spy player and take them out.

If you want to get into the beta, you can do so through the SpyParty website.

Something's off about this SpyParty video

What is going on in this SpyParty video? I've never seen a murder, but is this what happens? Because it seems that the reactions of the witnesses would be more scarring than the murder itself. Or maybe this is just what it's like when a developer's willing to poke fun at its game's bugs.more

SpyParty's new environments are warm, cool, & Scooby Doo

Though it's quite endearing the current visual style of SpyParty sorta looks like crud. We already know that the game is getting an artistic revamp, but so far we've only seen the new character art. Well, of course the e...more

At long last, SpyParty has arrived! Well, sort of. The highly anticipated game of subtlety and misdirection isn't quite finished just yet, but that doesn't mean you can't get in on the action right now. Chris Hecker has launc...more
