Adventure's not dead: Best freeware adventure games of 2007 photo

While the days of LucasArts making games that are worth a damn are more or less gone in this gamer's eyes, the adventure genre is not, although it takes a little more effort to track down the gems. The Indiegames website was kind enough to compile an excellent list of the best indie adventure freeware of 2007, which I will share here is hopes I can ease the pain of those of you cursed with office ennui:

  1. Fedora Spade
  2. Covert Front
  3. Anika's Odyssey
  4. Rorschach
  5. The Infinity String
  6. Fate by Numbers
  7. Masq
  8. Dr. Lutz and the Time Travel Machine
  9. A Tale of Two Kingdoms
10. Ben Jordan Case 6
11. Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy
12. Passage
13. Soup ver 0.9
14. Rückblende (Flashback)
15. The Adventures of Cagney
16. What Makes You Tick
17. Stranded 2
18. Menulis and Miestas
19. Thule Trail
20. Fighting Fantasy Project

Nelly Cootalot alone is enough to make me love this list, for every time I say it aloud I find myself giggling and throughly enjoying my own childishness. If you like indie stuff, go check these out and show your support! Every little bit helps when it comes to indie games and the people who make them, so do your part and have a real eason to brag about your own awesomeness.

[Thanks Justin]

I've played through Masq and must recommend it. It's a great game with multiple endings and paths, it plays like an adult choose your own adventure.

I can't promise I'll play these over the games that I paid good money for, but hey, at least it's bookmarked for that day when my TV breaks.

Masq was a lot of fun, you can play through it about 20 times before you get totally bored. But it's annoying how when you play the first time as you would like - the other times you need to act uncharacteristically to see other scenes.

Of course its a good sign that you actually care about that, i mean they have to be doing something right,

Yeah, Adventure games. I found Infinity String a few months ago, and that ended up being a decent but short one, so more free games of the adventure type are awesome. Bookmark for later use.
