Actor Shia La Beouf calls the Wii an 'amateur console' photo

Looks like actor Shia La Beouf has no idea what the phrase "wrath of a Nintendo fanboy" means. Kotaku reports that in a recent interview with Big Download, La Beouf (a self proclaimed gamer) had some snarky things to say about Nintendo's little bundle of joy:

(BD) Have you checked out the Wii Transformers game?

(SL) I haven't been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I've just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like...I don't mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It's kind of an amateur console. I'm not into the Wii thing.

(BD)What's wrong with the Wii?

(SL)This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f*** out of there.

Judgemental much, Le Beouf? He also mentions he passes up playing the Wii version of Lego Star Wars with Megan Fox because he'd rather "eat glass." By the way, passing up doing anything with Megan Fox kind of makes YOU the loser, buddy.

Thats pretty funny. That said, I have a Wii and I hate the damn thing, I havent played it in about 8 months or so, seems like all the people I know who own one are in a similar situation. I guess you like what you like, Im not gonna sell the thing but I dont really have any urge to play it either.

That's okay Mr. TheBeef, I will gladly play the Wii with Megan Fox in your place. Likely another idiot who feels gaming only consists of Halo, GTA4 and other random popular shooters.

The Wii is my only current gen console, yet I would still challenge this sad excuse for an actor to any game on any console and see if he can still claim the Wii to be for "amateurs".

It is an amateur console. In a post-Xbox (original) world, there's no reason for any console to not have a reliable online framework.

As was said, it's stupid to dismiss any console entirely as each of them have SOME games that are clearly awesome despite your preferred fanboy leanings.

But you can't fault the guy for believing what Nintendo is trying to tell him. They're doing a HORRIBLE job of appealing to the stereotypical "gamer" crowd and consistently show that they're more interested in pleasing the casual crowd over people like US. (See the case, Nintendo vs Fatal Frame 4, for precedence)


And I can't possible NOT laugh at the comment by the "cronos" guy back there. The Wii takes MORE skill to control?! HAHAHAHA! Good one.

I never really thought much about Shia La Beouf (He's a celebrity, his opinion's don't really count) but I'm glad to see he's calling it like it is.

3. nintendo is just doing what a smart company does, expanding their market to "casual gamers" while trying to get games out to their fans, and while right now it seems like casuals taking over there are some good looking games on the way. Its just good business, nintendo does what good for them, microsoft does whats good for them and sony does whats good for nintendo and microsoft after they do it and does slightly worse ( na i kid... kinda)

The wii is hardcore, the few times i've played on one it's resulted in me having sore shoulders every time! I've withnessed friend striking one another with the controllers unintentionally! on more than one occasion, but i think it's due to them being left handed. Epic
