I'm not sure why Activision is bringing back the True Crime franchise, and why now. But you know who does? Maria Stipp of Activision Publishing.

"We've been waiting for the right story and opportunity to bring True Crime to a new generation of gamers in 2010," she's quoted as saying in a press release. "United Front Games has the vision to bring this new undercover game experience to life, where fans will play out their own epic Hong Kong action thriller."

True Crime puts players in the undercover shoes of detective Wei Shen, who is attempting to infiltrate Hong Kong's Triad crime syndicate. Activision is hinting at a moral balancing act, which may have players making tough decisions that could influence the outcome of certain undercover assignments. True Crime appears to be open world, featuring martial arts, gunfights, drivign, and "acrobatic free-running chases."

The game is scheduled for a Fall 2010 release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

There must be a whole hell of a lot being kept under wraps if the right story was key. Because everything shown in this trailer makes the plot sound as average and generic as any typical game.

The name "Wei Shen" sounds like spelled in standard Mandarin, not Cantonese(which is more appropriate in the Hong Kong setting)

if it does melee and shooting right, i'll be happy. A lil total Overdose style of jumping out of cars and shooting people mid air would be great

I don't know why I've seen people say this trailer looked good. From the snippets of gameplay that are in there, it looks stiff at best.

The right story, eh? Shame the gameplay will be Kill X amount... or Arrest X amount... Oh gods I'm getting depressed thinking of all the uninspired Activision open world games.

waiting for "right story" = waiting to make sure GTA 5 wasn't being released that year.

True Cause?

Or Just Crime?

Either way, I'm hoping for a good game, since neither True Crime nor Just Cause was really really good.

What they really needed to say is that they wanted to "Find the right story that won't get us sued by the author of the True Crime Novels" Since that, and really bad sales, are the reason why we haven't seen another True Crime in a long time.
