Activision sponsors Rock and Roll Hall of Fame photo

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has new sponsorship from the makers of Guitar Hero. How fitting!

"Where there's music, there's Guitar Hero, and there are countless Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees who've appeared in Guitar Hero" said Dusty Welch, publishing head at Activision. "We are absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to offer visitors a chance to live out their fantasies by playing tracks from the artists they are paying homage to."

Activision is sponsoring an exhibit at the Clevland, Ohio museum on legendary guitarists like   Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia, Robbie Robertson. And, as you've already guessed, a Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo stand will be there to rock out on.

The press release also says that this sponsorship extends to the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held on March 10 in New York City.

"We're incredibly excited about this partnership," said Steve Dobo, Director of Sponsorships for the Rock Hall. "Activision's support not only helps us tell the guitar chapter of the rock and roll story, but it also gives our visitors a chance to step onto the virtual stage and kick out some jams while they're here."

You'd think Rock Band, with its MTV ties, would've called this one first.

The relationship makes sense. GH is a franchise now doing down the crapper, as well as some of the musicians in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

With the release of the No Doubt pack, I wanted to cry myself to sleep. Guitar Hero is going down the gutter faster than I thought.

Rockband would be such a better fit at the rock roll hall of fame. Imagine how much quicker the lines would go if 4 people played at a time. That and its the rock and rock hall of fame, not the Guitar hall of fame.

Dusty Welch is a name? It sounds more like an insult.

I agree with DaedHead8. Rock Band would totally be a better outlet to step onto that so called virtual stage. I guess GH does deserve some points for arguably bringing the rhythm-based genre/rock music heavily to the masses, and it would make sense if the partnership was based on that foundation.

However, Harmonix are the true hall of famers to me, developing some of the most addicting music games out there. Based on that, I would have rather seen the partnership happen with them.

To add to that sentiment, Activision deserves NONE of the credit for the success of guitar hero, seeing as they're going to be responsible for its downfall.

"Where there's music, there's Guitar Hero"

WTF does that mean? That makes absolutely no sense at all. None.
