Activision delays upcoming James Bond game until 2010, do you care? photo

In an investors conference call this afternoon, Activision CFO Thomas Tippl revealed that games are going to have to sit tight for some more 007 action. Tippl says that an upcoming James Bond game has been delayed until 2010. Why? So it wouldn't have to compete with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, of course!

Project Gotham/Geometry Wars developer Bizarre Creations has been hard at work on a racing project for Activision, described as "Mario Kart meets Forza." It's been long-rumored that Bizzare had been working on a Bond title; whether this project is one in the same is unknown, as nothing has been officially announced.

Question -- how many of you actually care about James Bond games at this point? Is it really an IP that Activision can leverage into piles of cash, or are gamers "over it"? It seemed most gamers were ambivalent to last year's movie tie-in, Quantum of Solace, a perfectly decent first-person/third-person hybrid. Do you guys even care anymore?

I haven't cared about a Bond game since Goldeneye, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Can't say the bond name has ever had me ignoring reviews.

I enjoyed Quantum of Solace quite a bit but I feel indifferent to the delay as long as the game is good.

A Bond dating sim would be boring.

You'd always win.

Isn't that just it? It was perfectly DECENT?

With all of the Gears, Halos, Killzones, Half Lifes, and Calls of Duties out there, I just don't want to drop another 50-60 bones on decency when I already have excellence.

A franchise is not enough to support a game. Case in point: lotr: conquest. I love the Lotr franchise to death, but nothing can save the frustration and mediocrity of that game.

They could delay the film for all I cared.

After Jason Bourne made his contemporary jump to celluloid, Bond has been a little more than redundant.

@Diverse:
I agree, since Goldeneye no other Bond game has caught my attention.
Which reminds me, it's been a while since any game made me feel like a international spy... anyone else feel the same way? Goldeneye accomplished that pretty nicely. MGS was close, but always got too weird near the end. Anyone feel the same way? Any suggestions for games?
