The reports are true! Activision has confirmed today that guitarist Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, the Nightwatchman) will indeed be a boss character in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Morello has even recorded what Tim Riley is calling a "mind-blowing original recording" for the game.
The game's new boss battles (that also includes Slash of Guns N' Roses fame) having gamers going head-to-head in an attempt to deplete the boss' "Rock Meter" before the boss starts shredding on their "Death Drain" solo. Once defeated, players continue on to their encore, which will be a master recording of a well-known track from said boss' respective band. In the case of Morello, players will jam on Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls on Parade."
"Whenever I play Guitar Hero, my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs. It's embarassing," Morello said in today's press release. "Now that I'm actually in the game, I hope the digital me will win once in awhile!"
No chance, Tom -- we're gonna own you and put videos of it up on YouTube. Try not to cry about it.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anywho. Cool, but much rather have RATM (Rage Against the Machine) on rock band.
Let's just call it a day. I don't want to play anymore. I've had enough "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME".
"Whose is Tom Morello?"
I hope a bear eats you. No, Tom Morello is the guitarist for the band Rage Against the Machine and some other crappy band no one gave a shit about. What was it, Adioslave? Gay. Anyways, yeah. He's one of those activist type people who's appeared on many different things like Axis of Justice.
Axis of Justice was a group of artist getting together to do a show. Dude from SOAD, a few rappers, and some other dudes. He's pretty big in the rock scene.
Honestly, I'm really really glad there's a RATM track, instead of Disappointment-of-the-Century Audioslave songs.
for a moment there I thought they'd put a song from Rage - the german dudes.
Iron Maiden AND Lacuna Coil AND Rage in the same game... My pants would be wet..ter =P
But the real story here is if Jack Black was going to be a boss in the game. Now THAT is a GOD of Rock.
Then I would have to buy it, hands down.
But until then, make mine Rock Band.
That is all.
And even more shame to those who think Slash is still great. What was the last thing that guy did? Velvet Revolver? AHAHAHAHAHA Get the fuck outta here.
Guns N Roses = A strong desire to jam forks in my ears to stop the pain.
Nope, I have not failed. GUNS N ROSES and their devoted fan following of terrible music has failed. Utterly.
And to add to the guitar riffs heres my rendition of Bulls on Parade:
Bao Wao Chicka Bao Wao Chicka Chicka Chicka Bao Wao Chicka Bao Wao Chicka CHicka Chicka
QUIT IT NOW!!
Considering they had a Pantera song on the first guitar Hero, and a DimeBag Darrell achievement in Guitar Hero II one could only assume that they would make him a boss, or some kind of secret achievement in the third installment.
This game just gets better and better
