While the rest of the Internet was busy having a heart attack over the delay of Grand Theft Auto IV, Shacknews' Chris Faylor was being all responsible and listening in on an Activision conference call. The call, which focused mainly on the company's Q1 financial results (hint: they made a lot of money), also revealed a few interesting tidbits regarding some upcoming titles.
Quickly mentioned was the inclusion of a Metallica track appearing in Guitar Hero III, as well as plans to bring songs from the first two games to the title (possibly through downloadable content). Activision also revealed that Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s for the PlayStation 2 had the highest first day sell-through of any Guitar Hero title to date; this news comes despite the fact that the game received lacklucster reviews, many of which slammed the game's $49.99 pricepoint.
Also revealed were plans for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live demos for Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, as well as high hopes for upcoming licensed titles including a new James Bond game, two unannounced superhero titles, and games based off of Dreamworks films that no one who reads Destructoid cares about.
OK, fine -- it's Madagascar 2 and Kung-Fu Panda. God.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Isn't Rock Band getting a whole fucking album?
At least GH will be good for the month gap between it and RB.
Rock Band is STILL better?
I doubt it though, it's probably 'I Disappear' or one of their crappier tracks. Bet Activision had to buy each member a golden house to be able to even USE the track.
I'll get both, mostly because GHIII is coming out for PS2.
Turns it the song is the master track of One.

This was the song that 1st got me into Metallica when I was a youngin'. GH3 may turn into more than just a rental.
But I'll still be jammin' on my Rock Band Strat.

Maybe they can release some stuff from load/reload and have a special sellout career mode after you beat the game.
