I can't honestly say that I've liked an Activision game in quite some time other than Blizzard's SC2, but I don't count that.

Simultaneous releases (UK/Aussie bros will understand how awful waiting for some releases are), high quality AAA titles, funding great shooter games on console. Yeah I think Activision is a pretty good company if you take a step back, the major problem I have with Activision is their attitude of increased profits no matter what which gives the consumer a raw deal.

I cringe whenever anyone mentions Blizzard next to Activision. Even with the merger those two companies are on completely opposite sides of the spectrum.

Such a shame so many innocent employees are without jobs when one of their cash cows dries up..it will happen to call of duty eventually..it is foretold in the propecy...dig deep enough in revelations and you will find activision!
I don't understand the love people show for Blizzard. What exactly about them makes them not an evil corporation like everyone else? Is it just because they happen to make games you like? That really wouldn't make any sense to me. And it almost seems like WOW would be one of the most evil games out there. It just sort of sucks up souls like a DirtDevil. Anyway, not trying to troll... just a genuine question I haven.

Bobby Kotick is just kind of a PR nightmare, they really need to get him a handler to coach him up for interviews and what not. For a company as big as theirs its amazing that they dont. It might solve a little bit of the perception problem, but it doesn't solve the cut throat way they handle franchises, studios, people who work for them, etc. With them being so profitable they probably don't think it matters anyways. Your average video game consumer doesn't even know who Kotick is.

Activision is a prime example of the kind of business that has run gaming into the ground. Short term profit based business models almost entirely based on the notion that the market would continuously grow, throwing money into overproducing major titles and destroying every niche market, even popular niches. They've done their part to inflate gaming prices with this business model, effectively pricing anything that isn't Call of Duty right out of the market.
You want to know why there's barely any track based arcade racers, platformers, survival horror games, fast paced arena shooters, non action RPGs that aren't FF clones, turned based strategy games, and every other niche genre anymore? Because this short term gain long term loss BS has priced all but the most popular games from the market. These games aren't less popular, their popularity just didn't grow with the huge gaming boom in the early 00s because that boom was created by marketing to the gamers that didn't care about the niches, and only purchased 2-3 games a year (the people who only played GTA and Madden).

It wasn't until they formed Acti-Blizzard that they had more resources (Money) to re-release the same garbage every year on a bigger scale that this idea of them as an evil empire started to come up. Don't get me wrong, I love CoD as much as the next guy, but if running once-great developers and franchises into the ground until they squeeze every last penny out of them is the model that Activision chooses to use, then they can go fuck themselves. I've seen what they've done to both Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, and they can suck it for completely killing those once awesome franchises.

Don't worry activision Just release some good games for cheap or free and publish some indie games,or make great smaller DL only titles make some innovative games and you will be on the good side of gamers in no time.

I'd still say that EA is more evil than Activision because of the whole Online Pass scam, but Activision is certainly working hard to knock Electronic Arts from the top spot.

You put games on time frames to get them done, and if they aren't done in time you punish the developers. I understand you need to make money from your games, but some games do better with time. Vampire The Masquerade? Cult classic. It could have been the Mass Effect of its time, had you GIVEN it more time. Instead, it had to be released as a buggy mess, and the dev's worked UNPAID to get out one last patch. What the fuck. You were just as bad then as you are now, but now more people see it. Look at Guild Wars 2 and Valve. They have release schedules that don't even have DATES. Now, we can't see whether or not Guild Wars 2 is successful yet, but Valve definitely is, and it's not just because of being a corporation and owning steam. Sure, they make lots of money off of Hat Fortress 2, but they make great games that take time. Stop this bullshit with the rushing of developers, you're only hurting your own games that don't have the power to be Call of Duty.
