Ubisoft revealed today that the previously announced Far Cry 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
In development by Ubisoft's Montreal studio, the next-gen first-person shooter is being built from the ground up using an in-house engine. Ubisoft is claiming that Far Cry 2 will feature a truly open world, set in "one of the most beautiful environments in the world," Africa. I've always thought the most beautiful environment in the world was Seacaucus, New Jersey, but what do I know?
The game is scheduled to ship fiscal 2008 - 2009, which is to say "not any time soon."

Probably because it would make all PS3s and 360s explode.
Crytek is making Crysis for consoles and Ubisoft is making Far Cry 2 for consoles & PC.
Crysis is by far better than Far Cry ever was anyway.
