Eugen Systems, creators of the Act of War series and last year's R.U.S.E., are working on the unfortunately titled Wargame: European Escalation. It's a game about a war set in Europe where things are escalating, you see?
Set during an alternate history 1975-1985 period, the game will have you fight NATO or Warsaw Pact forces with conventional weapons. It will also feature R.U.S.E.'s IRISZOOM engine, so we can probably expect the same kind of tabletop overview of massive battlefields for large conflict resolutions. No mention of whether or not it will use the "ruse" system though, but otherwise it looks like it will be something along the lines of R.U.S.E. with a Cold War setting for all intents and purposes.
Since the ruse mechanic was novel but not particularly amazing, while R.U.S.E.'s core strategy gameplay itself was pretty fun, let's hope it will be more of a mix between Act of War: Direct Action and R.U.S.E. this time around.
Wargame: European Escalation will hit the PC in Q4 2011.
