Achy Breaky Rock Band: 5 pack of country songs coming soon photo

Not everyone wants to play Motorhead and Rage Against The Machine when they fire up Rock Band -- in fact, I'd go as far as to say fans of certain types of music may even feel alienated by the available tracks. Now country fans can finally play something that hits closer to home with the announcement that next's week's DLC will be a country-themed 5 pack.

The tracks available will be Brad Paisley's "Mud on the Tires", Brooks & Dunn's        "Hillbilly Deluxe", Dierks Bentley's "Free & Easy (Down the Road I Go)", the Dixie Chicks' "Sin Wagon" and Miranda Lambert's "Gunpower & Lead". Per the usual you can score individual tracks for $1.99 or the pack for $8.49.

I'm not a country fan myself, but I'm glad to see that there's a wide variety of DLC out there. Anyone going to pick these up, or is country too mellow for your tastes (or the Dixie Chicks too nauseating)?

Well...

It's different.

Kudos on Harmonix for variety though. Just...I'm still scratching my head on this one with a confused look on my face.

Hey fuck that, I FEEL ALIENATED! The only metal they have is grandpa metal and garbage metal! Nothing against Judas Priest, Metallica and Iron Maiden of course, but they're way too mainstream...and OLD! And shit like Thrasher? Come on the only reason that song is worth a shit is because it's intense. Give me intense songs that aren't garbage! AND aren't JuditallicaMaiden!

This might be fine for the hippies who praise musical diversity, but I think it's a bad idea.

This isn't for me, but I can't fault them for putting out more varied music.

My wife Donna (MamaDonna to you) will love this news. We'll download Sin Wagon the day it comes out.

In her defense the song does use the term "mattress dancing."

Followed by the line, "That's right, I said mattress dancing."

YES!!!! Country Music on Rock Band = win :P

If only they had some Garth Brooks and George Strait...I guess Hillbilly Deluxe will have to do.

And this give me hope...if they are bringing country music on Rock Band, they just might bring out some Jason Mraz/John Mayer.

this isn't country

Guitar Hero had it right with Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again"

@Syn:
You are an idiot. Less Maiden, Metallica, and Priest and more metal bands that wish they were Maiden, (old) Metallica and Priest?
Good call.

@MYL0R:

Yeah because if it doesn't sound like JuditallicaMaiden then it's Death Metal right? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say you have no idea what bands I'm talking about.

You may know Blind Guardian due to their reference here, they sound nothing like JuditallicaMaiden.

So I'm going to have to call you ignorant for basing your opinion on nothing at all. What do you listen to? Children of Bodom? Cradle of Filth? They're all trash. In Flames' later albums are decent. Expand your metal horizons beyond JuditallicaMaiden and Death Metal.

It's a good thing they exhausted all avenues of Rock before branching off to other genres. I couldn't think of any other band I would have liked to see in this game before they introduced some backwoods rape your sister hillbilly music.

This "my music is better than your music because your music is crap" thing is so completely immature. Seriously. This was my thinking for about three weeks when I was in high school. I'm willing to let you continue to vent about this if you're ACTUALLY in high school, but if you're over the age of 20, you need to grow up.

@Syn:

I do hear you on the "why don't they have so and such band in this game." I can probably name 100 bands that have yet to have tracks in either Guitar Hero or Rock Band. But give them credit where it's due -- there's over 500 songs playable in this game. They've proven that they're willing to shine a light on a number of different genres, and they're just now getting around to country (or pop country ... or whatever it is you want to call it because it's not Willie Nelson or Hank Williams). You have to assume they're working their way through different genres, and may eventually get to your favorite band. But really, when one of the top paid pieces of DLC is a Blink 182 song, it's difficult to think that they don't know where their bread is buttered.

I really think they should have tried some better crossover tracks or more novelty tracks in country. I'm sure those into country appreciate these tracks but I see a missed opportunity for gettingextra sales from the core audience here. How big of an audience would there be to buy rockband and have this be their only dlc for it?

@Nick Chester: You're right, and it depresses me. The masses only like mainstream poppy junk that's about sex and money and the same three god damn chords throughout the entire god damn song. But I'm going to complain about it anyway because it pisses me off.

And eventually, maybe, someone somewhere will oblige me. No one ever got anything done by sitting by and letting the mob win.

I don't give a fuck. These are good picks, and considering that this a damn party game, I can see many a drunken night having fun with these songs.

You all need to lighten up. Rock Band is intended to be a social experience, whether you like it or not.
