What Bethesda does in a base release, EA slices out and sells separately.
Oh for fucks sake. Amalur was a complete package when it released. Used to be a time when people reveled on the release of expansion packs for great games. Strangely the move to digital distribution has found those same packs to be reviled. I blame this attitude on entitled children. If you don't appreciate DLC, fucking don't buy it and don't worry about it.
Part of the reason the game has so much content is because early in development it was planned as an MMO, so I am highly confident a lot of the ideas from the DLC have been kicking around for a long time and weren't cut so much as the full game was trimmed as not to be overly complex and daunting (which I'd argue it can be for non hardcore RPG players already).
I know I have already gotten my $45 out of it despite how much more I have yet to play and I can't wait to grab the DLC packs, although I'll likely wait for a sale seeing as there is plenty of content already and my backlog needs to be whittled down in the mean time.
Add-ons are tiny little scenarios and side quests that could have been in the final retail product. An expansion adds entire continents and an all new campaign to most games, giving more replay value to an already expansive game.
Are we clear? I think add-ons are rancid shit, a perversion of DLC rather than something that enhances an already great game. Its people that support it that are making and encouraging EA, Capcom, THQ an the like to be what they are today. So I don't want to hear you complain about anything they do because you're getting the developers you deserve.
I will complain because I remember last generation pretty damn well and these companies used to make complete retail releases just six years ago.
lol I've done more in Amalur before doing much of anything than I ever did in Skyrim. If you're talking about content, Amalur is on the verge of having too much in the base release. Try harder.
The time that it took me to do every quest (Sub and major) And still not get all of the achievements before I finally just got tired of playing the game and wanting to move on: 110 hours. There were moments in the last area of the game, where I wanted nothing more then to just book it to the end and beat the fucking thing, but my OCD about questing wouldn't let me.
There's still more to do in Amalur before I can s-rank the game.
So, don't give me that `It's half a game` bullshit.
I'm confused. You bash EA for it's DLC and incomplete game, say "expansions" are lots of new content + lands...and that's exactly what the first Amalur DLC is, and I suspect this one is as well.
yet EA is still skeevy?
Anyway, bring this on!
You don't know the difference between an add-on and an expansion apparently. Konnery explained what an expansion is. An add-on is something along the lines of skins for guns, new guns, a couple new items here and there for whatever reason they decided to not give them out when the game was released. I remember an article saying that this "add-on", as you like to call it, for KOA is about six hours worth of content. Please let me know when you find an "add-on" that is six hours long.
