How exactly would the art style work with the 3DS? They're not going to switch to 3D models, are they?
I won't get my hopes up on getting this.

I love the Phoenix Wright games, but Apollo Justice just didn't do it at all for me. I also completely skipped the Edgeworth game because my friend beat it in a single sitting. So, honestly, I don't care too much. I'd really like those HD ports, though.
@Wally: I sure as hell hope not, the animated sprites are one of the best visual points the games have had (yes even the old GBA ones)
For example I was disappointed that Good People Die wasn't in the same sprite style, but it's not a biggie though.

Hey if I wanna get into this series do I need to start with the first game or is the story-side of Ace Attorney kind of "optional"?
@Alex Celeski: Ace Attorney IS the whole first three games, and while you can always start from the 4th or the upcoming 5th, you'll be missing information about many characters and even some jokes. Personally I think you're missing out a big time, the first three are great.
Remember folks, Miles Edgeworth 2 wasn't localized in part because Capcom (rightly) anticipated that it would get pirated to death. The 3DS has no R4-type easy pirating option that I know of, so that's not a problem anymore (at least for now).
Chances are that they will bring this game to the states. I also wouldn't be surprised if they collect all the previous AA games (including Miles Edgeworth 2) onto one 3DS collection like they put all the Mega Man Zero games on one DS cart.
With that movie coming out, Capcom is going to want to capitalize on the temporary increase of the worth of the AA brand as much as they can.

It may be true that the game would have been pirated, but that didn't stop other developers from developing for the DS. Piracy is also rampant on the 360, PS3 and Wii this generation, but they still make games.
There's a high enough demand for Edgeworth 2 that they'd make a ton if they brought it over. If everyone worried about piracy, there wouldn't be any video games. It's unfortunate that it's gotten bad, but I still think they'd make enough money to justify an outside-of-Japan release.

@Jonathan Holmes: Sorry but that is not a good justification to leave the fans hanging, especially since there are many games getting pirated left and right (more than AA:ME) and they still get localized/sequels etc. The best that can be done for now is to have a healthy relationship with your costumers and trust that the honest ones will legitimately buy the game. All the crappy stunts Capcom has pulled doesn't help them one iota, and the "pirates' fault" excuse can't be used every time they do something that pisses us off.
I do trust your expertise that they're building up momentum for when the movie comes out, and would very much welcome a nice package for the 3DS. Until then I'm gonna be super pissed off at them. No ill feelings to you Holmes :)
