So the other day I mentioned Guilty Gear: Accent Core for the Wii. Now, IGN brings word of what the controls for the Wii are going to be -- and let me say, I want to cry after reading their description.
With this control scheme, you use the nunchuk analog stick to move your character and guard. The nunchuk and Wiimote can be shaken to perform standard attacks. You perform specials by holding buttons while shaking.
Just...imagine that. I can understand this sort of flailing around for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, but Guilty Gear is so fast paced that trying to actually play, and pull of some of the more intense combos, are going to be very awkward to pull off. At least this means that for all those who will own the Wii version, they'll be able to put up some hilarious Youtube videos.
Now, why am I kvetching on the front page about this? I really don't think that this fighter should be on Nintendo systems. Sorry, but between this and Dust Strikers, Sammy should keep this on the PS2/3 or 360, unless a nice arcade pad comes out for the Wii.
Now, if a fighting game was designed based around the Wii controls, that could lead to some interesting results. Are you thinking of what I am? C'mon designers -- I'm looking forward to a Wii-specific fighter, whether it be 2D or 3D.
[Thanks for sending this one in, Necros!]
Even the classic controller isn't good enough, or properly laid out for decent 2D fighter gaming.
I agree, Wii is a terrible choice for this game. However, people will make due with what they got.

So, seeing how the classic Controller is basically a re-designed Super Famicom pad, which is very similar to the Playstation pad which has remained the same since the PS1, and seeing that nobody has a problem (including me) with the 2D fighters that were on the PS1, PS2 & no doubt PS3 which also uses the same PS1 pad which is also similar to the Super Famicom pad, which is very similar to the Classic Controller, why is this even an issue?
I have plenty of 2D fighters on the Dreamcast, the pad is not ideal but as long as you can hold it horizontally, use the d-pad and have enough buttons, I don't see a problem, in fact there is no problem here whatsoever.
*cries*
Sorry Necros, forgot. I'll update it.
Bleep, sorry to disappoint, but I'm not ready for a motion-sensing bra. I'm still wearing undershirts... :( I weigh only a bit more than Ron Workman, so I'm not exactly a fattie.
And if anyone hasn't bought a classic controller by now, you really should jump on the bandwagon. It's really very nice, and there are some circumstances when a Gamecube controller really isn't right for a game. Such as games you can't change the button config in, like F-Zero, which accelerates with B, brakes with A, and boosts with X. (Imagine that on a Gamecube controller.)
@ Mister Disco: If you want a great arcade stick for Wii, try the X Arcade stick. It works with Gamecube and therefore works with any Gamecube-compatible game.
In light of these arguments, I'm going to say that Hillary Clinton is the worst president ever.
<faints>
Incidentally, the idea of Bushido Blade on the Wii nearly made me faint with joy.
