For as much as some tend to complain about Microsoft Points and the like, I think the hassle is worth putting up with so long as sales like this continue to happen. Amazon's got 12-month subscriptions for Xbox Live Gold marked down to a less-painful $35.99.
They've already burned through the stockpile of game codes, unfortunately, so you'll have to order a physical card for this deal. Silly? Yeah. But it's the bargain hunter's way.

Deals like this can be found on average about three times a month, you just need to know where to look. However, if you signed on with MS at a year for $30 previously, call them up, tell them you are thinking of cancelling, and they will offer you the reduced price again.
Personally, I will never pay $60 for Xbox Live. It's just not happening.
Well, I'm a bargain hunter, so maybe my view is skewed, but I don't really see how saving almost half on something many believe we shouldn't be paying for is silly. Unless paying at all is the silly part?

Hey,even saving one single dollar in these trying times is a good move but I would have saved around 6 dollars! I could have purchased Quarrel for that and had leftover pocket change to spare!

there was a glitch that allowed exicting customers to get the offer also there was no limit to the amount you could buy. I'm good now till 2014.
