Choosing a winner for our custom Destructoid PlayStation 3 theme contest was no easy task. After a few beers and much deliberation with our Art Director, Topher "Hushgush" Cantler, we've made the tough decision: Jayeugene, a winner is you! 

As you can see from the above preview, the hours of work put into this theme certainly paid off. Jayeugene hand-crafted icons for almost everything found on the media bar; we were instantly won over by the creativity found in things like the Dtoid robot-looking boombox, or the subtle use of "PSTRIPLE." Jayeugene wins a pretty cool prize package, courtesy of Sony, that includes Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Folkore, along with other titles and nifty PS3 schwag.

We also pulled our hair out choosing the runners up in this competition, JJP3D and Eques-Ardor, who both win cool schwag prize packages (also courtesy of Sony). You can take a gander at their work after the jump. 

Congratulations, guys -- awesome work like this proves that we most definitely have the best videogame community in the world! (It also proves that we could get you guys to just about anything for prizes ... which is frightening.)

Yeah, he was someone else's art and the only part i didn't create by hand, but i didn't take credit for it in my description in my blog.

Thanks for the comments Dtoiders!! :) I knew there was a reason i didn't buy Folklore yet (also i didnt have the money for it) lol. I hope to see more contests with usable art!

I have an SD tv. That would probably clear up WHY I didn't make mine bright-colored-face-rape-awesome.

The way I did this was:

1. Go to this site on your PS3
http://www.allps3themes.com/2007/11/19/destructoid/

2. Download the file, while on your PS3 and it automatically goes to the correct destination. Then you're all set.

3. If you don't have the internet running to your PS3, which you better since you have a 400 console, then you can use a usb drive but I haven't a clue on how to do it.

I’ve been using Jay’s theme since he first put it up. It rocks. Jay, have you updated it yet, taking into consideration what I mentioned about moving the Dtoid logo up some pixels? If not, that’s cool...I was just curious.

here's how to transfer it with a usb drive:

1) create a folder named PS3(with caps) on a usb drive and inside it create another folder named THEME(also caps) and that where you put your theme files.

usb/PS3/THEME/file.p3t

2) plug the drive on your psTriple then go to
settings-->theme settings-->install new theme on your ps3's xmb and you're pretty much done.
