A Western Final Fantasy XIII demo may happen, could be new photo

The Final Fantasy XIII demo generated decent buzz amongst diehard FF fans, but there’s one big, nasty problem with it: it’s technically a Japanese release. Packaged in with the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the disc-based demo must be imported to North America. People who don’t want to import the garbage flick for a chance at playing the game are out of luck -- currently, at least.

Speaking to the problem, FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase said again that a downloadable Western-geared demo could happen, and even better, it may even be a new look at the game. “We are thinking of providing it in a downloadable format,” he said, according to Joystiq. “If we were to provide the demo overseas, it would be a completely new version.”

Well, now all that waiting doesn’t seem so bad, eh? Of course, this isn’t written in stone. Square-Enix may not release a demo in the West. Still, the idea sounds tasty.

What is happening in that picture? Is a Leatherman multi-tool attacking her face?

Garbage flick? Are you kidding me? Blasphemous words from a Dtoider, never seen that one coming. I well understand that everyone has their opinions but only one way possible you could have not liked AC. You are simply not a Final Fantasy 7 ( or FF in general) fan.To me the movie was just as brilliant as the game.

Paradigm Shift on top of ATB in battles is going to be interesting. Command based RPG incorporating lots of action and player strategies!

LOL a bunch of SE staff including devs just packed themselves into the next FFXIII demo. Wish you all could see it too!

That is the dumbest looking weapon I've ever seen. A scissor catapult that fires extravagant sword blades?

@Senger If being an FF fan is too instrumental in liking AC, then that is very strong evidence that the movie isn't good.

You know, I stopped paying attention to the FFXIII screen shots a long time ago because I get tried of a hype machine that gets rolling 3 years before a game comes out but now that I'm looking at that picture.... that HAS to be the dumbest looking Final Fantasy weapon yet.

Your mom is garbage.

Well.

While not ingenious, that was the most obvious way to give my opinion.

Advent Children wasn't that bad. Certainly not worth importing, and the story was shit, but it had some kickass fights.

@Robbo the hood: It's a gun/sword, and I think it's mid-transformation in that shot. 'Course, I could be wrong and maybe it has a scissor mod.

@Robbo the hood - haha, nice description of the picture. Its actually a well timed screen grab of her sword/gun transforming from one to the other.

Why the hate for Advent Children, Brad? I wouldnt go as far as Sengar, but its an enjoyable movie, and the Complete version is much better. And its not like VII had such a perfect, work-of-art plot to begin with. Fun game, fun movie.

AC sucked. I love Final Fantasy, love 7 to death, but that movie made no damn sense and was just them showing off their pretty graphics. The "fight" against bahamut was so stupid (though I will admit I cheered when Cid showed up). And Sephiroth showing up at the end for magic fan-service?
Yeah, the movie was pretty much garbage. But it did make me want to play FF7 again, so I guess it accomplished SOMETHING.

AC has awesome fight sequences, probably the best in any CG film to date. The rest was kinda crap though.

Fun film with brilliant fights, that's all it is, that's all I think Square wanted it to be.

Well, I hope the demo does make it's way across the ocean, that'd be great.
