Today starts my week of
Dead Space coverage. The
Dead Space team invited me, along with a handful
of other bloggers and journalists, out to EA Redwood Shores a couple of weeks ago and gave us a full day's look at all things
Dead Space. Before I get into the game itself (later this week), we should take a look at the history leading up to the start of the game.
There’s a lot to know about the
Dead Space universe, and to get us ready for the game, the
Dead Space team developed a six-part mini comic book saga to set everything up. In issue one, we are introduced to Unitology, a major religion in the
Dead Space universe. The Unitologists worship objects called Markers, and on a planet that’s getting ready to be cracked, a new strange Marker has been discovered.

The Marker's effect on people is growing worse and worse and people start to freak out.

The planet is cracked and the shit hits the fan as the hidden alien species makes itself known and starts infecting and killing people.
