Valve announced earlier today that Atari is the latest in the long line of publishers to jump in bed with Steam. The games are already available for download, so check out the full list of titles after the break to see if there's anything of interest to you.
Out of all the Atari games to hit Steam, there were really only two that stood out to me. The first was Indigo Prophecy, for obvious reasons, and the other was Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Platinum.
If my second choice has you questioning my taste in games, I'm almost positive that the embedded video will convince you otherwise. It's a shame they didn't just use it as the actual commercial for the game, because nothing gets you in the buying mood quite like murderous roller coasters.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As for the others, I've heard good things about Act of War, but haven't really looked into it.
I'll finally be able to play Combat on the PC.
No more emulation for me.
Such a great game back in the day.
Don't worry, I played it, I don't know what's going on either
Speaking of crying and RCT, I would play long stretches of time without saving (coincidentally, listening to TMBG just like in the video) and I accidentally kicked my power strip after unlocking a rollercoaster I had never seen before. Devastating.
Neverwinter Nights 2 and the expansion pack NeverWinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
And coupons for the enhanced version of The Witcher, which CD Projekt RED claimed would be free for current Witcher owners.
CAN I HAS FREE PLEEEZ?
Some games that use CD Key activation are compatible with activation via Steam, even if you bought them physically. Look up the Atari games on Steam's technical support to see if they're supported by the CD key activation.
Oh, thank God. And thanks for the info, I guess I shouldn't toss my cases OLOL.
Last question though. Since Steam games have that sometimes-annoying tendency to require launching via Steam, and The Witcher's devs announced that The Witcher's enhanced content would be available via a megapatch, do you think Steam would require separate download of the megapatch, or would it auto-update as Steam games are wont to do?
If they actually came out in Australia for the same price the US gets them.
But they won't be the same price, if they come out at all, because only Valve seems to understand what gamers want, even if we have to wait for it.
Well, Valve and the people that made Sins of a Solar Empire. That essay from the guy who runs that development studio yesterday was ace.
