Don't get me wrong - some anime and some manga can be fun. But Japan has developed a problem, in fact, more than one type of problem.
I don't want Japan to go back to the bad old days of Bushido and Emperor Worship, but they're becoming a bit bizarre. Granted, young people in the West are becoming drunken yobs (at least in Queensland they are), and that's no better of course.
It's just that Japan used to be such a sane society. Now I'm afraid their losing their minds. It's sad to see.

The weird thing about Japan is that they are obsessed with pretty much every weird fetish there is in their porn, but they also apparently aren't getting very much in real life. It's gotten so bad that the government is pretty much on the verge of paying people to have sex with each other and have children, and women will pretty much marry the first foreigner who steps off the boat because so many of the men would rather just read a dirty comic book than date her.
Of course this is my rather ignorant foreigner's assessment of the information that has little research behind it. However, as an outsider looking in, it's not that hard to make such an assessment.

My theory on Japan is; During WWII they were this massive noble empire, until they were bombed and had to surrender which emasculated them. So now, in all their weird fetish acts, it's always something really cute and meek being violated by some weird Japanese dude. So this is their sick way of trying to feel dominant again.
