After getting a taste of the single-player in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it was time to play the newly revealed multiplayer mode, Squad Rush. Squad Rush is basically a toned downed version of Rush mode designed to be a extreme competitive game mode for quick matches. Maps are smaller, there are no vehicles and rounds move along a lot faster.

Four teams of four will be switching between offense and defense sides as the offense team tries to take out the defensive side's crate. There are two crates total in Squad Rush and once the first crate is destroyed, the map opens up a little more revealing the last crate that needs to be destroy.

One other multiplayer gametype was also revealed -- Hardcore mode. This is a bare minimum experience. No HUD, no aiming reticule and weapons are more lethal. The game is as realistic as it can get in Hardcore mode.

If you're looking forward to Squad Rush mode, then you better pre-order Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 from GameStop as it will be an exclusive mode to those that pre-order. The mode will become available for all in April and until then, people can still play Squad Rush mode without pre-ordering so long as they're invited into the game.

Restricting entire game modes to pre-orders only? Now I remember why I despise the conglomerate known as EA.

That is a bit on the ridiculous side. Time to boycott this game and then buy it the day it comes out *cough* L4D2 *cough*

I think it's silly to lock game modes to pre-orders, but to lock game modes to NEW purchasers i think would be a good way for the industry to move. I'm sure the used game retailers wouldn't appreciate it as much, but I'd imagine it would definitely increase the Publishers/Devs ROI.

I wonder if they would make as much from the increase in new sales as they do from these pre-order bonuses? i'm assuming that retailers pay for a pre-order bonus like this?!?

i reckon it would be the best way to deter used sales and increase new sales.

Discuss....

Solid. Between this and MAG, my shooter needs will be easily taken care of for the better part of this year.

Hey Can someone answer my question...

I was wondering why Battlefield (or for that matter, Call of Duty) never put in a mode where if you die you stay dead until your whole team is wiped off the board?

Like gears of war 1 (warzone)... Even if a person doesnt like the idea, they wouldnt have to play it. And, I could play the game type when I chose to.

I think the mode would be more of a war-like feel where if you die you stay dead. And lastly, they could limit it to the smaller maps so you wouldnt have to run around finding people.

just curious...

Taken form Battlefield blog(http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/Default.aspx##):

How To Access "Squad Rush" at Launch
North America: All customers that pre-order from GameStop (local retail store or website) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have an Exclusive Access* for 30 days to play the "Squad Rush" gamemode and any friends they bring with them. This means you can always play with your friends if you have the Exclusive Access* never forcing you to split from them, plus those that have this Exclusive Access* are a bit more popular... even if only for 30 days. ;-)

Rest of The World: No Exclusive Access, as we will make it available at launch (no extra cost) and you can also invite any of your American buddies to play as well.

I live in the UK and I already preordered it from GAME (I need the Limited Edition) but i'm happy we don't have to wait :) :)

GooN, those modes are called team survival. Lots of games have it... including CoD like Lordz mentioned. Battlefield has always used the conquest game type. The most depressing part about Bad Company is the exclusion of fixed wing aircraft. If anyone played any of the first Battlefields on the PC or the Desert Combat mod, you'll know what you're missing out on.

I have a huge problem with preorders from Gamestop. They hardly ever give me the preorder material that comes with the game. Usually because employees steal it for themselves. Luckily I have a friend who works there that does that very thing for me when "there aren't any more".

Goon: I don't know about battlefield, but I know CoD has done it for a while (as a few above have stated)

However, I want to take it a step farther. How about a game mode (completely separate from the others) where you only earn experience and the ability to level until you die? Then you're forced to start completely over. Again, it would be entirely optional (not the whole game) but success in this (very realistic) mode provided some nice show-off rewards (better armor, new camo or the title/emblem system from mw2).

I think it would be lots of fun, be very stressful and very rewarding. Every kill would be very thrilling.
