Alliteration is awesome, especially when it involves words that start with the letter “p”! Now that that’s out of the way, we’ve got a great deal of brand-new information on Activision’s upcoming shooter, Quantum of Solace, the videogame companion to the film. The movie, a straight sequel to 2006’s Casino Royale, will be out in North America on November 14th, and the videogame version will hit stores in the region a week and a half earlier, on November 4th. Hm...there’s something else happening that day, isn’t there? I think it’s something relatively important, but I can’t quite put my finger on it...

Quantum of Solace will be released on the PS3 and 360 (developer: Treyarch), Wii and PC, (dev: Beenox), PS2 (dev: Eurocom), and DS (dev: Vicarious Visions), and Activision has put together a bunch of special packages and pre-order bonuses. Starting today, if you pre-order the PS3 or 360 version at GameStop, you’ll receive an exclusive code that will be redeemable on XBL or the PSN for a post-launch multiplayer map pack. Let’s just hope that the maps aren’t released a week after the game comes out. This applies to both the regular game as well as the Collector’s Edition on PS3 or 360 (the Collector’s Edition costs $69.99, but there are no details yet as to why it’s so special).

In addition, if you pre-order any version of the game at Best Buy, you’ll receive a coupon for $10 off any James Bond movie on DVD. Check out that offer right here. Best Buy isn’t currently offering the Collector’s Editions, though, and there’s no word on how long their pre-order bonus will last. Keep an eye on next week’s Discountoid to see if the promotion is still valid then.

As for new details on the game itself, its multiplayer portion (which has yet to be fully revealed) will feature “authentic locations from the Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale films and beyond,” and along with standard multiplayer modes, will include new Bond-specific game types: “Bond Versus,” “Bond Evasion,” and “Golden Gun.” You can view a behind-the-scenes trailer on level design above; in the gallery below is a piece of concept art for an MI6-based multiplayer map. Check out Nick’s preview of the single-player mode from June here, and head to the game’s Web site for more.

Protip: Try ordering JUST the bonus pack from Best Buy and select in-store pickup. Chances are they won't have any idea what you just did to them and will take 10-15 minutes to find the item, earning you $10 off your pickup order.

Or at least that's what happened when I did the same with LittleBigPlanet. Might want to order two so you don't miss out on the full $10 refund.
