Steel Battalion? One of the best games to ever hit the original Xbox. It's a game where you control a giant mech using two joysticks, three foot pedals and a 40 button controller that came with every game. Steel Battalion was great, but the huge price tag prevented a lot of people from experiencing it.

The controller doesn't have any use outside of Steel Battalion, but Japanese VJ, Bonsajo, modded his into something useful. His controller mod allows him to fade, scratch, change color and do all sorts of other things to images appearing on the screen that I don't really fully understand why but STEEL BATTALION!

As a mech fan, I really wish I had the opportunity to play Steel Battalion. That controller is god-like.

Aaaaaaaaaand now I have to play the game again. And I disagree, it's not one of the best games on the Xbox, it's one of the best games EVER.

I want a Steel Batalion controller. Forget the game, I just want the controller. X3 Reunion or X-Wing would be an absolute blast with that thing.

as a mech fan I can assure you Steel Battalion has alot of hype. The Mech Warrior series play much better than SB did. Still - what a great way to modd the $200 controller.

I always wanted that game. Even before I was really that big into gaming I wanted one.

God dammit I'm a whore for peripherals. >.<

@Turbofail

Want to try to do what he's doing then? It's far from stupid. He's a VJ, they do a lot at clubs.

Its a shame that the Steel Batallion controller is only useful for one game. If only the controller were USB-based!

@Turbofail
What is your problem, dude? Why is every comment you ever post amount to "this is so fucking stupid"? What's up your butt?

I think the time is right for a next-gen steel battalion with a redesigned control console. Maybe something a little smaller and sleeker looking.

Rock band and Guitar Hero and Wii fit (the list goes on) have proven that people will shell out extra money for a game that requires plastic crap to play it.

This game/controller was sweet. I never had the cash to purchase myself back in the day (or an xbox for that matter), but played it at my friend's crib. Definitely brought that arcade cabinet feel home.
