A new Earthworm Jim game? Yes please! photo

The Earthworm Jim series accomplished something that very few platformers have ever dreamed of doing: combining humor with great gameplay for an all-around fun experience. So when David Perry (founder of Shiny Entertainment) vaguely mentioned a new Earthworm Jim game, you better believe that us fans became giddy as a pack of rabid schoolgirls.

We reformed the (Earthworm Jim) team and they were all into it," said Perry. "Trust me, all the original Earthworm Jim guys are still very interested in the whole idea; just know that it'll happen eventually."

Seeing as how the original team is working on this game, the chance of suckage is relatively low. But depending on whether or not it ends up being a 2D or full 3D title, that could change.

So, which systems would you want Jim to appear on?

Now by original team, does this mean that Doug TenNapel is involved? If so then Neverhood for the Wii please...

Great news.

Personally, I think they can do wonders with a Wii Earthworm Jim game.

Does anyone remember that there was some sort of 3-D Earthworm Jim game in the works for the PSP? I remember seeing a video of it in action, and it looked...alright, I guess. I wonder whatever happened to it.

Oh, apparently Two remembers it as well. So there are two of us who do, not-so-interestingly enough.

God, I hope 2D. It would make a nice downloadable title for 360, PS3, and Wii.

Either an XBLA ground up game (aka, not just remaking the old game in 720p), or for the DS/Wii (depending on how involved they want to get with 'alternate' control schemes) For some reason, I just see this on a Nintendo console.

Damn Grim, where'd you find that image? I would've loved to use it earlier.

I'm stoked for EWJ, if TenNappel is involved. 2d XBLA sounds the most probable, or DS/Wii.

Yeah, it's gotta be 2D, and like everybody else has said, XBLA would be the place to have it, especially with the recent memory upgrade. If not there, DS and/or PSP would be nice. Hell, I'd take it on any system if they kept it 2D and made it rock as hard as the first two games.

I have EWJ:Full can o' Worms (1+2) for the P.C. but ... it won't run in XP. I was very disappointed to find that out.

Man, my co-editor did the same thing... basically giving a license to Dave Perry to make a crappy EJ game, since it seems like everyone is basically saying, as long as it has the EJ moniker, they'll buy it.

Way to go.

PS3 and 360, Xbox live arcade and PSN respectively. Lord knows Nintendo won't put this on VC anytime soon

XBLA would be sweet if it's to be tradition Jim, however whipping the worm with the wiimote could be sweet.

I don't think this is the same as the Earthworm Jim PSP game. There hasn't been much clarity, so I could be wrong though.

P.S. The image is from Deviantart.

I thought the PSP game was just another remake of the old ones, although I might be wrong.

Is Shiny the new Squeenix?

No, probably not.

I just want another quality release like EWJ1+2 for the PC.
SCREW CONSOLES! GoW, Halo3, Mass Effect won't make me buy an xbox360, but if this becomes an XBLA game, who knows what will happen..
..poor wallet.

The EWJ PSP game is neither a port nor a remake -- it's a "retelling" of the first EWJ game says Wikipedia

Electro Lemon: Are you trying to tell me GoW wasn't showcased as the second coming of Jesus? Interesting point!

However, as fun as many XBLA games are, I can get games like that for free on my PC. Freeware titles, indie titles, open source, you name it. That is not one of the selling points of the xbox, it's one of the selling points of the interwebz.
