Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, Isn't DUX supposed to some out after this? So it really dosen't have much of a chance for the coveted "Last Dreamcast Game" crown...
I flap my gums about it in my latest blog post. Shameless plug: http://fuzzypickles.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/last-great-am/
I think games on older systems can be successful as long as they are marketed properly. There are plenty of good Atari 2600 homebrews out there; why can't independent publishers make good games for DC? The fan base is there and the cost of production is significantly less.
Not like it isn't already a thriving homebrew machine...
@A New Challenger: It's on CD, since the Dreamcast can read those without any problems.
And for all who care, it was originally released for the GP2x and the Dreamcast version is a port of that, with extra content, like a new character.
As for choosing this release, the market is very different in Asia, especially Japan, where a late Dreamcast release like "Karasu" in 2007 outsold many DS and PS2 games in several stores. The game however, has also been very well received on this side of the world as well (not the target market), and was nominated at this year's GDC 2008 (Game Developer's Conference) as an IGF Award finalist.
I hope that clears some things up! Again, thanks for the post! Hope some of you here have a chance to try the game if you're interested!
