A new Breath of Fire title a 'possibility' photo

Role playing games come and go, but few stay as relevant talking points like the Breath of Fire series has. Recently, in an interview with developer Camelot Software Planning’s Takashi brothers, it was revealed that a new Breath of Fire title is something that they are considering.

…It is possible to start planning for titles such as the Breath of Fire series. As I mentioned earlier, the number of games we can develop at a time is quite limited so we would like to consider what people want the most in order to determine the next title for development.

According to the Takashi brothers, the only reason why Camelot was unable to pursue the possibility of a new Breath of Fire game was because of the loss of critical team members during the Mario Tennis: Power Tour crisis of 2005. Since then, the team has been rebuilt, thus making retro RPG enthusiasts excited all over again.

If every RPG developer or publisher thought like this, I would already be playing a localized version of Mother 3, or wandering through the vast deserts of Tecmo: Secret of the Stars 2. Barring another Mario sports game, I wonder if Camelot would consider bringing a Breath of Fire title to a console. Fully realized 3D fairy queens? I’m in.

Do want. Man BoF, that takes me back. Those were some of the first RPGs I played, fond memories for sure.

Yeah, it wasn't long ago that they said in an interview that the series was just "sleeping" and that they wanted to make another one.

Glad to hear they're still interested. As much as I'd like to see another Golden Sun game from them, they can go fuck themselves if they make GS over a new Breath of Fire. I've been waiting so many years, Camelot. So...so many years.

I have to agree with Blindside. I would love to see a Golden Sun 3. The last good BoF game I played was III, then again I haven't played IV yet, but a friend of mine who's played them all agrees that III is the best. Not that I'm not excited that Camelot's making another game anyways. Maybe they'll do it better than Capcom could.

Could someone please elaborate on the "Mario Tennis: Power Tour crisis of 2005"? I wasn't aware of this.

I second the call for a Golden Sun/Lost Age remake or sequel.

I really like the town building system of BoFII (I think) where you get to found your own town and you can recruit a lot of the people you meet on your journey to come to your town and provide whatever service that they did (i.e. you could help out a black smith and he would come to your town and make weapons/armor for your party). It also served as an HQ for your party so members who weren't currently in your party would stay there. It really gave the game a sense of realism imho. I really hope they keep that system if they decide to make a new game.

GOLDEN SUN INDEED!

P.S. @Evil Cheese, you are referring to Township. BOFII is full of epic.

This article made me JUMP FOR FUCKING JOY. Breath of Fire is one of my favorite video game series. But why would Camelot have access to the game? It's owned by Capcom. Nevertheless I think if Camelot made BoF6 it'd be fucking RIDICULOUS. So long as they make it more akin to the traditional BoF's and try to tie the stories together.

forgot which BoF we are at... but the last one that was epic to me was BoF4. loved the story, graphics and gameplay.

Oh, and, in before people who criticize Breath of Fire 5: Dragon Quarter. That game was awesome even if it was nothing like the previous games.

@NukaCola ...it was nothing like the previous games.

Yeah, the previous games were made under the idea of making a game and not an exercise of removing your own sexual organs, in reverse.

I'd rather have a Shining Force IV (and I to III on the VC) or a Golden Sun 3, but a new Breath of Fire sounds good too.

New Breath of Fire? Fuck yeah! Forget Golden Sun BoF6 needs to be made to match the awesomness of 3

You're all crazy for not playing Dragon Quarter. That said, I loved III to death, and Ryusei's project to retranslate Breath of Fire II for the SNES (Google it, seriously) is right up there with my anticipation for Mother 3.

A new Breath of Fire game would be great. Especially by someone like Camelot.

"Play" Dragon Quarter? You don't play Dragon Quarter, you freaking well summon your persona for real and then the gods subject you to the 13th circle of Gaming Hell.

It just happens to be a realy badly done RPG that maskerades as a chapter in the Breath of Fire Series and instead is the demonseid of the bad stuff of Nethack and Resident Evil.

BOF2 is a personal favorite, so it would be awesome to see another game in the series pop up.

A new Breath of Fire?! Yes please! They skipped an entire console generation!

...There is no Dragon Quarter. There is no Dragon Quarter. There is no Dragon Quarter. There is no Dragon Quarter.

Sweet, new BoF. I'm sorry to all those who want a new Golden Sun but I found those games to be absolute crap. I fell asleep on two separate occasions trying to play that. The only other games to do that were the intros to FFX and Xenosaga 1. But neither of them were able to do it twice. I still need to try Dragon Quarter, believe it or not I've actually heard some good stuff about it.
