Due to hit Android and iOS October 3

It's been some time since we heard any talk about Puzzle Quest, the "match-3" game with RPG mechanics, but a new edition of the game is suddenly upon us. Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign will release Thursday, October 3 for Android and iOS devices.

The product description, as found on the game's newly minted Facebook page, is a bit sparse. Players will be able to build a roster of Marvel Universe characters and the gameplay is described as "tag-team" in nature. It seems safe to assume this would mean something along the lines of producing combos using the special abilities of Marvel Heroes.

There is an interesting twist in the development of the game, however. While the series has always been published by D3 Publisher, Infinity Interactive (developer behind all prior installments of the Puzzle Quest franchise) has been replaced by Boston-based Demiurge Studios (Shoot Many Robots). That's enough to pique my curiosity enough to give it a try, as a change of developer could breathe some fresh air into a series which hasn't captured my heart since the original.
