Here's an obligatory video featuring the various executions found in the Gears of War 3 beta.
I figure many of you haven't seen some of these moves, since it's not often you get the chance to initiate them without the opposing team taking notice. I will say, though, that people are getting better and better at saving the super long ones (e.g, the face-punching execution) for the final kill of the match.
And when you happen to be the final kill of the match, it's the worst thing ever.
My personal favorite shown here is the one where you pull a dude's arm off and pummel him with it. Kind of can't believe I wrote that sentence. Games sure can be remarkably over the top when they want to.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

I get it, but shit like this isn't really for me. There's a point when it just becomes violence for the sake of violence, and its really just boring. I dunno, I never was a huge fan of fatalities in mortal kombat either
@John Johnson it's not mandatory & it doesn't detract from the experience or actual quality of the game. Plus executions weren't really a big thing in the Gears franchise until Gears 2 so keep in mind it's more like a nod to fans rather than a major part of the game. Plus it helps keep those who love humping distracted a bit longer.
Also, most shooters do it to show your health, Gears just does it for the sake of it. Which would be okay, but in a lot of those situations it actually obscures the view and you dont see the executions properly.
Kinda defeats the purpose.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Oh God, so much THIS.
A lot of those execcutions look the same, but the smoke bomb followed by retro lancer charge seems like something I will be trying a lot.
this "update" to the series will sell like crazy tho
Other than that the game looks swell, but i dont own a 360 anymore so theres that.

"Bloody screen! So reeeeal!"
Protip: almost every M-rated action game does the 'blood-on-the-screen' thing
The worst thing is being the last guy to die when playing as COG. You KNOW your arm is getting ripped off.
I don't know if any of the keys are left, but you can try here:

BTW, lookin sweet, I'm gonna buy it for sure.
And for those not fond of executions, no problem. Just keep shooting the bastard till he dies.
