I'm very interested in all this steam Linux business, I just hope the Ubuntu support means that Debian can be used without too much trouble.
It's pretty cool that they port it over. However, I think that most gaming linux users have a dual boot system. In that way you have all the comfort of using linux and only have to put up with windows bullshit when you boot up a game.
Linux is an example of communist ideals at their worst. It's not more secure, and certainly not more stable.
Nice to see Linux gaming picking up again. It was decent a decade ago but didn't have critical mass.
ive always found it weird that PC games need an OS to run. why cant they just put a game into any pc and run it no matter the OS on the system? linux,ubuntu,win7,winxp etc. isnt it the hardware thats most important to a game?
On the Wii, the drivers for the system are actually built into the games, so every game and app, including the dashboard, act as different "apps". So in essence the game is playing independently of any operating system. This approach would work for PCs, but it would be akin to running a pre-built game on a live cd every time that you would want to play something. Might as well boot into another OS.
