Yesterday, IGN posted a story about a Wii game that was pitched by developer n-space back in 2007. The game is called Winter, and it never found a publisher. Twenty Four hours after this news hits the internet and you have both a petition begging for us to support the game's publication and tons of gaming sites backing said petition 100%. Not one, but two of our community members have posted their own heartfelt blogs on the topic as well.
After watching the video, I can see why some are already so gung-ho to see this game published. Not since Resident Evil Zero have I seen so many dynamic cuts to off-putting camera angles in videogame. That Ringu-flavored thing on stilts that shows up at the end is pretty neat too. With similar games like Lit, Fragile, and Fatal Frame IV getting published on the Wii, it's all the more strange that Winter never got beyond the pre-production stages.
I'm not too bummed that Winter's been stalled, because I've already got my hands full with the "flashlight fun" games listed above, but it's my understanding that I may not be in the majority here. Do you want a chance to play Winter? Then hell, sign the petition. Contrary to popular opinion, sometimes publishers actually pay attention to this kind of stuff.

Meet the rest of the team
I really hope they can pull something from this. The game itself looks pretty promising, I'm not sure I like the design of that J-horror thing at the end, but it definitely looks great, boob physics on Wii? Nice.
Also, very important to note that this demo was created by 12 people in 6 weeks. It is merely a concept demo for publishers. I think that's incredible! It isn't the greatest looking game but the potential is immeasurable when considering that. The lighting is really nice!
Yay, another tech demo people jizz themselves over because it got canceled. If the game went off without a hitch I'm sure people would just complain about it being another mediocre game on the Wii.
@ Blind assassin. Yeah, because we get tons of games aimed towards adults on Wii, correct? Come on, man. Yes it could be mediocre, but I'll take the risk for mediocrity over the guarantee of ineptitude (what most companies send over to Wii).
Also, yes, the music was from Two Towers, but it was just a simple placeholder--remember, they didn't compose a soundtrack for the game, people.
I expect either EA or Sega will pick this up...although Ubisoft could be a possibility. Not a bad demo for 6 weeks work, the final release when (and it will be when and not if imo) available should be looking pretty good.
This control scheme is pretty much done for if you ask me.
The Resident Evil remake for the GC looked way better than this and I have no doubt in my mind that whether or not this game gets made it wouldn't be as good as said game.
If this game were cancelled for any system other than the Wii (with updated graphics of course), no one would give two shits.
lol, just release it on the PC through digital distribution. And DinnertimeNinja raises a very good point. If you're that starved for good games on the Wii, just give it up and sell the damn thing.
Maybe they'll sort out the graphics so it doesn't look like a poor PS2 game if they get a publisher. And maybe pigs will fly from between my buttocks and shoot laser beams from their eyes. Pewpewpew!
Brim: That demo literally took them 6 weeks to put together. It was a proof of concept video. 3 weeks to put it together, and 3 weeks to make sure it functioned.
For 6 weeks, that's pretty damn impressive. It they had actually had some decent time with the game, it would probably be one of the best looking Wii games out there. (That's 6 weeks at the beginning of 07, when games like Escape From Bug Island were being released).
@ gamadaya: Selling a system before it's games stopped coming out is a utterly retarded thing to do. The correct course is to buy another system, and just pop your wii out on parties (heh). Otherwise ou are just setting yourself to buy the damn thing again wen the next good game finally comes out. And if you are having money problems, you should just sell the system and not buy another one. Sometimes food is more important than games. Sometimes.
"But since then, we've grown tremendously as a company and have some new tricks up our sleeves to make even better looking environments and characters - so graphically the game would take a significant leap."
Now shush with all you people complaining about the graphics not being "good" even though they are. Especially for 2 years ago and in 6 weeks time. Honestly, at least read the damn article by IGN before you go and whine about the game. Honestly.
This is a joke, right!? I mean, seriously, the Wii can throw a million party games on the shelves, but a game that might actually be fun; it can just rot in a corner.
It looked like a diamond in the rough. It looks like it could have been amazing, but it needs a looooooooot of work. I can see why investors didn't take to it. It would cost more to polish than it would see in sales. :( oh well.
Fine, I'll grant that the chance might've been worth it but the responses of "Fuck you Nintendo. You took away a potential Game of the Year contender!' are absolute bullshit. Judging a game by a tech demo is like judging a book by its cover. In fact, it's ever worse than judging a book by its cover because almost all tech demos make games look good.

Of the three exclusive games the Gamecube had, Geist was one of the worst. I'm really failing to see what that has to do with the price of tea in China though.

Ugh, anyways- come on Sega, whats one more?
And yeah, that Two Towers music is bullshit.
