Flynn's incredible Mog of War discovery inspired me to take a day to explore video game art on the web ... and by that, I mean that I did absolutely *nothing* for the last 5 hours but slack on MySpace and Deviant Art. The Dtoid one year anniversary weekend was productivity-numbing; I'm having trouble kickstarting any industrious feelings this fair Monday. (A formal gallery photos from three days of non-stop partying and birthday shenanigans will probably surface in a day or two here, but in the meantime here's a gallery from our local blog MiamiNights.) So without further ado, here's some hot spots and photos that should be of interest for lovers of the fine Nerdcore arts.
Art: GuitarAtomik on deviantART (he also sells shirts on glarkware) The Okami girl is my second favorite following GOW.
Art: Special thanks to Parrothead for the booze and 8-Bit book, I'm poke-loving it.
Music: I Kill PXLS (cover art by same fella, love how abstract the lyrics are -- you really have to pay attention to catch the references. I'm surprised their influences didn't include Orgy.)
Music: Retrodate (new track: give Dance of the Knobs 5 minutes)
Music: The Lost Levels (Loved The Early Sheets track)
For the alternative filthy Nerdcore arts, look for a new crotch-altering post from CTZ this week. People are sending us naked photos of their girlfriends with (sing it!!!) video games all around their tits on the Destructophone, how did we get this lucky? Are you listening to something new and gaming related? Post your recommendations below!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

what is with making everything female? And I know for a fact that the wolf in Okami is a female. so why "femalize" the character?
to Namelessted:
I made them all female because it was the theme of my Senior thesis. The plan was to turn a bunch of male videogame characters into females. I had a whole "artist statement" to justify it at the gallery but in reality I just thought it would be fun to do. And for the record Rockvillain, I do have a girlfriend.
Also yeah, that <a href="http://www.myspace.com/ikillpxls">I KILL PXLS</a> is me too.
I KILL PXLS
I did the Okami one after the senior show. I thought it was too cool of an image in my head so I broke my own rules.
Besides, I could swear that all of the mortals saw Amateresu as a male dog despite the fact that it was a "female" goddess. I could be wrong though.
BTW the link to retrodate was broken, fixed now
but... you forgot Issun in the okami one
I totally did. I planned on adding him from the very beginning, but I completely forgot to add him in there later on.
