A demo for Alone in the Dark will be available near launch photo

An Xbox 360 demo for Alone in the Dark has been confirmed for "around launch" by an admin for the Atari Europe forums. The game launches on 360, Wii, PS2, and PC on June 20 and June 24 in North America and Europe respectively, so expect a demo around then. The PlayStation 3 version will hit stores at an unknown date.

Since demos for the other systems haven't been confirmed yet, some of you might end up having to purchase a retail copy of Alone in the Dark to experience the wonders of setting things on fire and combining household items to create powerful explosives that MacGyver himself would admire.

As long as we get a demo before release, I'll be a happy camper.

So stoked for this one... I don't even know if I'm going to download the demo. I might just pick up a copy on blind faith and hype.

Note: I will not be using the "skip the hard parts" feature in this game, nor do I approve of it. I think games are too easy these days anyway. What's the fun in playing video games if you can't redecorate your home once in awhile by throwing controllers all over the place in frustration? Riddle me that batman!

"explosives that Matlock himself would admire"?

Was Matlock a big fan of the explosives? I'm thinking perhaps you mean MacGyver?

Hahaha yep, you guys are 100% correct -- I did in fact mean MacGyver. All this talk of Internet Matlockery is taking its toll on my brain.

You have stolen my heart, Grim, for mentioning one of my most favorite books of all time.

What Samit said. I love Fahrenheit 451. One of the best books I've ever read.

Any fan of the book needs to watch the 1960s film. Its so damn campy. Note the jetpack scene, especially.

Actually, the image is from the 360 version. At least it was located in the Xbox 360 section on Atari's site, anyway.

I don't know why they don't release demos a significant amount of time before the actual release.

Gah. Why no PC demo, I mean we're the ones who actually need it to see how it runs
