I'm not buying it. Not for $14.99 and not for $4.99.
I've not even finished Deathspank yet. I only picked it up two weeks after it came out, and have been playing it in between other games when I get an hour or two. I refuse to support a developer who'll shit out another game so soon the first hasn't had a chance to dry out, yet.
I don't care if the sequel was in development at the same time or anything like that. Just because it's done doesn't mean you should release it. Wait, work on the thing a little more, add some more dungeons, add a new type of weapon, work on the random generation, add a hardcore mode, WHATEVER.
Delay the game until there's some demand for your sequel.
Huh?
Looking at the comments so far, I don't see a single person who's complained who doesn't have a legitimate complaint.
It's amusing to me that people are bitching about a 15-20 hour long game costing too much at $15. Now a SEQUEL with new monsters and items is coming out still priced at $15... And people complain?
WTF!?

2. This sequel puts the total for Deathspank's adventures at half that cost.
3. I will never understand the internet.
I mean, sure, I fucking want it, but I didn't expect it in a month?
This developer is a FUCKING MACHINE!
Fuck it, I'll just play something else.
The gameplay? Face it, the gameplay of the game had a fair amount of room for improvement. A two-month gap between the games means that the gameplay is virtually unchanged except for a few small changes and expansions. So it's just going to be more of the same.
Yes, Deathspank is fun, for now. When I get to the end of the game, I doubt I'm going to want to pay fifteen bucks for the same experience all over again, but with new snarky dialogue. Fifteen bucks for a new, upgraded gameplay experience with the same charm I'd pay for.
I don't see myself getting much new value out of the sequel, so no, I'm not going to buy it. If I ever feel like playing more Deathspank, I can always just start a new file on the first game.
The rest of us will be picking it up at launch and enjoying the hell out of it.
Except that it's not going to change the fact that this Deathspank sequel is essentially exactly the same game with some slight changes. The developer hasn't had time to gauge consumer reaction, adjust the things everybody hated and done more of what everybody liked, or done anything that one normally expects out of a sequel except to create more.
And hey, if more Deathspank exactly like what you paid for with slightly different environments is what you want, more power to you. Enjoy, my man. However me? I don't see any real purpose in buying the sequel when I can go back and play the first game a second time. The combat in Deathspank isn't interesting enough that new enemies will change it up, the environments in the game aren't unique enough that I want to slog through new levels, and really, one can only pack in so much ironic humour and lampshade hanging.
In six months, when the developer could have offered some new and improved gameplay to go with the game, I would have said yes to a second offering. In six months when the developer is still trying to offer me this game (or possibly Deathspank 5 at the rate this crap is coming), I'm going to say no just like I have right now.

To people who say they should "work on it for some more time and add more content" - one word, no. Because then it development costs wouldn't put it on $15 price tag. Game is still amazing amount of content for the price tag, at least for me.
No, I'm thinking the same as dexter: "it's almost like they were developing one big game but decided to sell it as two smaller games..."
It's a trend nowadays... But I can't judge, I still have to play deathspank. Got no time though: someone was right saying Puzzle Quest 2 is like crack, yeah, crack straight in vein...
