The Adventures of Duane & BrandO are the American versions of Hyadain. Yup, I said it. They're that damn awesome!

The duo raps over various videogame tracks in one go. The song that won me over is the Mega Man II cover, which they rap through the title screen, all eight robot bosses and to Dr. Wily himself. The lyrics are pretty solid and really makes you want to get up and dance.

I've heard a lot of covers based on Mega Man and I have to say that Duane & BrandO have done the best job so far. They have a bunch of videogame covers over on their MySpace from Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ninja Gaiden to many more.

Check out the Mega Man II and Sonic the Hedgehog covers after the break. A couple of tracks from The Ocarina of Rhyme albums and a mash-up of Jay-Z and Phoenix Wright also await you after the break.

[The Adventures of Duane & BrandO found via flaming burrito's C Blog]

Mega Man 2

Sonic the Hedgehog

Team Teamwork created this version of The Ocarina of Rhyme (above), which is rap lyrics from major rap stars dubbed over music from the The Legend of Zelda series. If you dig Team Teamwork's stuff, you can download their songs from 8tracks

The other The Ocarina of Rhyme album is by Sleaze and it's all original lyrics by Sleave dubbed over Zelda music. You can download Sleaze's stuff from his blog, Ketchup Please?

Both The Ocarina of Rhymes via Corican's C Blog and via Geekologie. Thanks to Timothy J., and Oni for the tips as well!

If you need some more videogame hip-hop mash-ups, then check out this Phoenix Wright and Jay-Z mash-up. Thanks .tiff!

All the other stuff sounds like crap, but these guys with the game centric lyrics, sweet music backings, and full videos to go along with it definitely make up for their lack of polish...

Did you ever hear of Madhatter? He's pretty good and raps about the NES. You can download his album "8Bit Bullshit" for free. Check it out:

Ah, ran into these guys in watching, on something of a whim, a YouTube Poop amidst the various passed-overs in my Subcriptions, where Knuckles's lines are credit[t]ed to his/their work. The MM2 one had me chuckling (very creative in how the sections are handled, if not the rhyming itself), and the FFI one (?!(/!?)) striking me closer to home (FF [series] fan, though I haven't played the NES version). The Ninja Gaiden one (were there more than one? I'm only remembering one) didn't get me much, since it was mostly a chorus (not the epic-scaled orchestral symphony things in modern RPGs, no), and I watched it out of the FF.mpg reference and 'cause I'd recently watched the first three speedrun on SpeedDemosArchive.

I like Duane & BrandO's rapping, but I wished they used actual hip-hop music.

I only found one song enjoyable on the first Ocarina of Rhyme album - No Hook (Meeting the Owl). The rest were bleh.

That MM2 video is epic win.

There's this hip hop artist called Kail, the song is called Wendy. He samples the music from Gemini man stage from Mega Man 3.

Really good song.
