Uh, maybe don't walk toward that ominous light in The Evil Within

The next DLC episode of The Evil Within, The Consequence, picks up on April 21, 2015. Like The Assignment before it, Bethesda is starting us off with an extra brief teaser trailer. Somehow, the delivery of the sorta-out-of-c...

Contest: Win a Titan One and a controller of your choice! photo
Contest: Win a Titan One and a controller of your choice!
by Mr Andy Dixon

Destructoid has once again joined forces with our friends at ConsoleTuner to offer another awesome contest for the Dtoid community! This time around, three lucky readers will take home a Titan One cross-compatibility device and a controller of their choice*!

The Titan One lets you mix-and-match controllers with different consoles, meaning you could plug an Xbox One controller into your PlayStation 3, a DualShock 4 controller into your Xbox 360, and so on. (Or any of the supported controllers directly into your PC, too.) If that sounds like your idea of a good time, leave a comment below telling us which controller + console combo is your favorite! Limit one entry per person, and the contest is open to anyone with a U.S. mailing address. You have until this Sunday, March 29 at 11:59pm Pacific to enter.

Good luck! And remember, our Huge Members get automatic entry into all contests (and double entries if you enter one manually), exclusive beta code giveaways for upcoming games, newsletters direct from the staff, ad-free browsing, and more! And most of all, your $3 a month helps directly support the site you love. Try us out!

Senran Kagura brings exploding clothes to Dead or Alive 5: Last Round

Senran Kagura and Dead or Alive have started a new life together with costumes that, well... they explode. What else did you expect? This relationship between the two properties -- which is purely platonic -- has spawned 16 ...

Where's the best place to start if you've never played a Souls game?

Here's a question that I've gotten a lot of in the past 24 hours -- "where do you recommend picking up the Souls series?" Due to quite a bit of buzz behind Bloodborne (which, thankfully, is actually good), people ha...

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a pretty fantastic game, exceeding my expectations coming off of the disappointing Dragon Age II. BioWare is keeping the good times rolling this week with a new $15 DLC pack called Jaws of Hakkon, ...

Trailer for Telltale's Game of Thrones Episode 3 unfolds some earlier plot points

Well, this one snuck up on me. I thought I had been following most of Telltale's releases pretty closely, but it turns out that Game of Thrones Episode 3: The Sword in the Darkness is coming out tomorrow. Who knew? In the tr...

Prepare to scroll: This Dark Souls illustration captures the complexity of Lordran

Uncovering the mysterious, unforgiving, crazy-but-believably-crafted world of Lordran is one of the greatest pleasures experienced in not only Dark Souls, but in the last decade of videogames. I'm still wrapping my head aroun...

Mortal Kombat X punishes quitters with head-exploding Quitalities

Mortal Kombat X recently showed off an Ermac fatality that is actually pretty dang icky. Do check it out if you're not the squeamish sort. Less visceral -- and, wow, isn't it great when a series is so over the top an explodin...

Xbox Store slip confirms Predator for Mortal Kombat X

I've watched Predator, Predator 2, and Predators in the last week at the behest of people who've felt these were good ideas (the first idea was a fine idea, the subsequent decisions less fine). Predator 2 is a mess and Preda...

Final Fantasy XI shutting down on PS2 and Xbox 360, mobile version and spinoff coming

Final Fantasy XI is 13 years old. As is the case with 13-year-olds, Square Enix is getting a bit sick of dealing with it.  The PS2 and Xbox 360 versions of the MMO will shut down in March of 2016. Final Fantasy XI's main...

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima expected to split with Konami after The Phantom Pain photo
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima expected to split with Konami after The Phantom Pain
by Jordan Devore

"After we finish [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain], Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami," a source within Kojima Productions told GameSpot today amidst speculation that some real crazy shit is happening at the publisher. "They said their contract ends in December."

There have reportedly been a "fallout" and "power struggles" between Kojima Productions and Konami, which have led to some senior Metal Gear staff, including series creator Hideo Kojima, to be designated "essentially [as] contractors, not permanent employees," according to the source.

Staggering. Just staggering. And there's more: Kojima is no longer listed as an executive of Konami. Kojima Productions Los Angeles is now named "Konami Los Angeles Studios," and its @Kojima_Pro_Live Twitter account has "moved" to @metalgear_en. Lastly, online marketing materials for The Phantom Pain have excised the standard "A Hideo Kojima game" descriptor.

In a statement to press, Konami said it is "shifting [its] production structure to a headquarters-controlled system..." and added that "Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima) will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products."

Welp, I'm worried about Silent Hills.

Geometry Wars 3 is evolving with 40 new stages and Hardcore Mode photo
Geometry Wars 3 is evolving with 40 new stages and Hardcore Mode
by Jordan Devore

This is unexpected. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is rolling out a free update across all platforms (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC) on March 31, 2015 that's large enough to warrant a name change. Going forward, the game will be known as Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved.

Adventure mode, the one with boss battles, is adding 40 stages, and the existing score-based gating system for unlocking levels is being tweaked so that it's easier to get through. You'll also be able to choose the new Sweeper drone and Detonator super ability (i.e., more stuff to level up).

Hardcore Mode, according to Lucid Games and Sierra, "lets players tackle 20 dedicated levels without using a drone or super, including individual leaderboards for no-loadout purists to compete for high scores." Terrific excuse to get back into Geometry Wars 3. (Also, what's the catch?)
