This Nathan Drake figure is ruggedly handsome

And it's really expensive, at $160. That figures. Though Slideshow Collectibles is offering you a chance to enter a giveaway to win this faithful, 1.6 scale, heavily detailed  recreation of Uncharted 3's lead. Apparently...

The Destructoid Show's Glorious, Bumbling Return

New Uncharted announced for PlayStation 4 photo
New Uncharted announced for PlayStation 4
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Tonight during the PlayStation All Access launch event on Spike, developer Naughty Dog revealed that they're working on a new entry to the Uncharted franchise for the PlayStation 4.

No more details were given beyond that. The teaser trailer showed off a map, a voiceover of someone looking for revenge, and simply the name Uncharted. Is it a prequel? A sequel? A whole new storyline that has nothing to do with Nathan Drake?

Naughty Dog wouldn't say but they did tease that there are clues hidden in the trailer.

Uncharted 3 makes all multiplayer maps free photo
Uncharted 3 makes all multiplayer maps free
by Conrad Zimmerman

This week marks the second anniversary of the release of Uncharted 3. To celebrate, Naughty Dog has dropped a massive patch on the title's multiplayer mode with a few dozen balance changes and other adjustments. A new, "Dry Docks," map has been released for free and the cost to purchase all of the pre-existing multiplayer maps has been eliminated as well.

I would think by this point that just about every sale of this DLC which was going to be made has already been transacted, so this makes pretty good sense to me. If people come this late to the party, it's probably better to give them access to the full range in the hopes that you can hook them into buying on a later product.

You should feel bad, but games don't want you to photo
You should feel bad, but games don't want you to
by Steven Hansen

You monster.

Outside of the casual and educational spheres, violence abounds in games. Even Mario is violent, albeit not gratuitous. Combative, at least. Much of the game is purely avoiding obstacles, but eventually some form of cartoon, innocuous violence will be necessary for progression, be it dumping turtles in lava or tossing a mustachioed bomb on his royal, explosive tuches. And that's fine. Cartoon violence is one of the ways we handle it, render it inert -- unless a childhood full of Loony Tunes, Tom and Jerry, et al did a number on me -- but that idea is complicated in the realm of purportedly "serious" games in which violence is more....violent.

In his Tomb Raider review, Jim mentions how after the first few hours of the game it sets out to make your adversaries seem as abominable as possible, “to make us hate the antagonists.” He also mentions how the viciously skilled Lara and generally fun gameplay “undermines the whole narrative about the impact of taking human life,” which was the concern that came over me when I played through the Tomb Raider’s first three hours late last year. The killing is too good. Now they have to justify it.

Ten psychedelic freakouts and hallucinations in games photo
Ten psychedelic freakouts and hallucinations in games
by Taylor Stein

Have you ever heard the saying, we're all a little bit crazy? I don't know about you, but "a little bit" might be an understatement, especially within the world of videogames. While virtual protagonists often reflect the absolute best that humanity has to offer, heroes have their fair share of mental afflictions. The body is easy to heal, but the mind is much more fragile. Whether super-powered or ordinary, no individual can bear the weight of the world indefinitely without feeling the pressure. Talk about tons of baggage.

Mysterious pasts, the deaths of loved ones, and foreboding prophecies are just the tip of the iceberg in the realm of gaming. It's no wonder so many champions of justice experience some form of mental collapse. From nightmares and hallucinations, to visions and delusions, it's pretty safe to say that craziness is not uncommon. All it takes is a catalyst to re-open a deep fear, doubt, or memory, and BOOM we as the players get to take a trip down illusionary lane complete with peculiar happenings, bizarre plot twists and more.

Below are some of my favorite dreams and moments of insanity from videogames with a varied mix of hilarity, abruptness, and even moments of trepidation. Warning there are some minor spoilers throughout.

God modding is the only way Nathan Drake can beat Altair

I don't care how much suave bravado and street smarts Nate possesses; there is no way he could ever hope to stand toe-to-toe with a freerunning Middle Eastern ninja. Note unless he bends the rules of reality to his favor lik...

Uncharted 3's co-op getting more rare loot this weekend

Whether you have been playing the multiplayer content in Uncharted 3 religiously or just a smattering here and there, this weekend would be a good time to get some more of that in. Naughty Dog is hosting a bonus cash eve...

Review: Uncharted: Fight for Fortune photo
Review: Uncharted: Fight for Fortune
by Chris Carter

I don't care if you're a professional tarot reader: no one could have predicted an Uncharted card game.

Out of all of the Sony franchises to choose from, I guess it saw fit to create a card game based around the idea of collecting treasure, and gunning down people in a head-to-head resource management style fashion. It could have ended terribly.

But you know what? As weird as it sounds on paper, it mostly works.
