Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sells over two million in its first week

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate went on sale on October 11th in Japan, and already it has mustered up over two million in sales. The original base game for reference sold roughly 4.1 million units for comparison. Now that it sold over two million, the series doesn't have to be canceled, due to Capcom's new "AAA logic." Just sell yourself to Nintendo already. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate [Capcom]

Okay, this Mega Man armor for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is cute

Man, Capcom is killing it with these Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate crossovers. And by "it," I of course mean Sonic the Hedgehog. He never stood a chance. This Palico armor styled after Mega Man is super cute but, admittedly, it'...

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate gets an amazing Samus costume

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is still coming in 2015 outside of Japan, and there's yet another Nintendo/Capcom crossover coming. A Samus costume is making an appearance, and yes, it will be coming to the western version of the game.

At this point I think Nintendo and Capcom are friends enough where the latter can just, give over the rights to Mega Man games to the former? I mean, think about it. Capcom can pull a George Lucas and retain merchandise rights. Nintendo can make great games and Capcom can still collect -- do a five to ten year deal and see where it goes.

Enh, enh?

Mr. Resetti is in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, you guys photo
Mr. Resetti is in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, you guys
by Jordan Devore

There's yet another tie-in for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and it's the best one yet -- Animal Crossing! Players will be able to make their Felyne companions look like Mr. Resetti and Isabelle. Now, I'm not much of a Monster Hunter fan, but the chance to play alongside Resetti without him yelling at me, for once? Might just cave, depending on what's needed to acquire the outfits.

It's funny how these characters appear normally in Monster Hunter but Sonic the Hedgehog looks like he was skinned for his crossover. Guy can't catch a break.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate brings a lot of verticality to the table photo
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate brings a lot of verticality to the table
by Brett Makedonski

When the west finally gets Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate -- what Capcom calls "the most complete version of 4 that it'll get" -- players are going to need to turn their attention to the layering of the game. Rather than solely ground-level areas, Ultimate features plenty of ledges to climb up and to hop onto monsters' backs from. That's the big difference from the Monster Hunter you may already know and love.

Gone are the water terrains, which Capcom called "controversial." The newly placed emphasis on vertical play replaces them, in what is kind of the "hook" for the game. However, that doesn't mean Capcom expects the same mixed reception. The opposite, in fact. It anticipates that players will welcome the verticality because it's fluidly interwoven into play. Small ledges will be automatically ascended, and larger ones will actually take some effort to climb.

With this new information in mind, a party of four of us set off to best the Daimyo Hermitaur -- a giant crab-like creature. Equipped with a weapon called the Insect Glaive, one of our members sent insects toward our target to retrieve essences from him. The Insect Glaive also served a second (and more fun) purpose. It can be used to pole vault on top of a monster and ride him into temporary submission.

Sonic x Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is, uh, yeah...

Admittedly, this collaboration is slightly less horrifying once you realize it's a Felyne (or Palico, if you want to be precise) wearing Sonic the Hedgehog armor. Slightly. Still, I think this tops the sexy/stretchy fan art f...

Link's outfit looks pretty badass in Monster Hunter 4
by Chris Carter

We've already known that Monster Hunter 4 has a very neat looking set of Link armor and weapon sets, but we haven't seen a whole lot of footage on them -- until this week that is, when Capcom unleashed a new trailer into the world.

Ok that's great -- but all people are thinking in the West is "are we getting it?!" Now we can finally answer that question with a resounding "yes," compliments of Capcom Unity. Yes -- the West will be getting Link's armor and weapon sets.

Confirmed: Link's weapons and armor are in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate [Capcom Unity]
