Here's a half hour of the Arkham Origins Mr. Freeze DLC, if you want to watch that

I've never quite understood why people want to watch extended gameplay videos of upcoming content. I mean, if you're excited and want to play it, why would you want to spoil a long chunk of it? Conversely, if you couldn't ca...

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare adds free Zomboss Down DLC photo
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare adds free Zomboss Down DLC
by Jordan Devore

I'm not sure which alternate dimension Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare came from or how it got here but PopCap's wacky third-person shooter has been a pleasant surprise. Against all odds, the game keeps on giving: another free DLC pack called Zomboss Down is out today, adding eight new characters and the Cactus Canyon map for Gardens and Graveyards mode.

The character level cap has also been increased to level 30, complete with new challenges to conquer, and there are 200+ customization items for the new cast of plants and zombies. Even though the last DLC release was free, I'm still surprised to see this one follow the same plan and PopCap not overwhelm players with microtransactions. Gosh, what a terrific game.

Review: Putty Squad photo
Review: Putty Squad
by Chris Carter

Of all of the games to get a PS4 remake, you'd probably never put Putty Squad, an SNES game from 1994, at the top of the list. But here we are in 2014 with a full-on re-imagining, with more or less the same platforming mechanics that still work nearly 20 years later.

The only problem is, System 3 Software has opted to charge $29.99 for a decidedly dated game -- which is a bit of a problem.

This Bound By Flame combat overview is pretty damn informative

I'm not completely sold on Bound By Flame yet, but this video is doing a pretty decent job of showing off the variety of locales, enemies, and combat situations the game has to offer. The basic gimmick is that you'...

A head in the poles: Project Totem is platforming fun photo
A head in the poles: Project Totem is platforming fun
by Steven Hansen

Press Play proved it can make a platformer with Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, but it wasn't meant to test your muscle memory and invite speed running. It was a colorful adventure with some charm and plenty of stopping for to draw with the magic marker.

With it's newest project, Press Play is dialing up the pure platforming with a minimalist design and some nasty platforming hazards. Nasty meaning cool. The point is I got into a heck of a comfortable groove with Project Totem and maybe you should too when it comes out.

Review: Constant C photo
Review: Constant C
by Darren Nakamura

Since Braid hit it big in 2008, puzzle platformers have been indie bread and butter. Manipulation of physics concepts like time and gravity has become relatively common in the genre. Constant C takes those ideas a half step further, by combining them.

In the end, it works. Though gravity control is nothing new, the combination of it with the frozen time mechanic allows for situations that have not been seen before. Some of these situations come up more often than they need to, but the journey stays interesting enough to see it through to the end in Constant C.

Yep, The Evil Within is going to be one super creepy game alright photo
Yep, The Evil Within is going to be one super creepy game alright
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Oh The Evil Within, how I can't wait for you to scare the every living daylights out of me. Shinji Mikami's past games were my first tastes of the survival horror genre, and I'm quite looking forward to see what he does with his latest title.

The newest gameplay trailer here is full of monsters, scares, and all sorts of spooky things. Including a dude that has a safe for a head. Also can we talk about how great the promotional art for this game is? The face with barbwire is creepy enough, but then you notice the letter T is heading downward to pierce the eye. So good.

The Evil Within will be out on August 26 in North America, August 28 in Australia, and August 29 in Europe for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes the shooter looter to the moon photo
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes the shooter looter to the moon
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is official. The latest entry in Gearbox's shooter looter takes place between the original Borderlands and Borderlands 2, hence the Pre-Sequel moniker. The new game is based on the Borderlands 2 engine as well, and will be sticking to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

You'll be able to play as one of four new -- yet familiar -- characters as you work for Handsome Jack during his rise to power. Oh, and a majority of the game takes place on Pandora's moon. And you get jet packs. And laser guns. And ice weapons. Oh my.
