Wondercon 11: Afternoon cosplay round-up photo
Wondercon 11: Afternoon cosplay round-up
by Niero Gonzalez

Wondercon would be little more than a nerdy flea market if it wasn't for San Francisco's vivid cosplay crowd.  This year there was noticeable spike in participants and a lot less janky cardboard costumes to boot.  We found ourselves surrounded (and smelling) the usual suspects: Storm Stroopers, Pirates, Ninjas and comic book characters from every mainstream and indie universe. Naturally, Marvel and DC off-the-rack clones were out in full force.  If I had a dollar for every Wonder Woman I bumped into I might be able to afford the gasoline-priced coffee at the convention center.  Eight bucks for a hoagie!  What is this, unicorn meat?

Look for more photos from the masquerade, hands-on previews, and quirks from the weekend rush in the coming days. Destructoid was lucky to bump into some staple and unconventional cosplayers from the gaming universe. Check out our gallery - can you name them all?
